I think I have found a good recovery for the failed ESP test. I have only field tested it a few times, but have gotten good feedback.

So you do the ESP test and it fails. Shit. Well it happens, and to me more than 30% of the time. Telling them to refocus and choose between 1-5 never seemed that great to me. There is still a good chance of getting the number wrong, and even if you get it right there is not much value added. What I have started to do is to tell them to focus, picture a movie screen, and on that movie screen appears a number (really build it up because it is better that way). Then tell them that number is between 1 and 1. Then you say let me guess, it is 1. You see I do have ESP skills. Doesn't give you much in the way of proving yourself as a supernatural, but it puts a smile on their face and turns a failed test into kind of a cocky funny situation.

Look forward to feedback.

Definately a good way to roll away from freezing up if things don't end up the way you want. Although depending on the type of person and circomstances, a situational answer would probably be a more appropriate responce than this after-routine. Nevertheless, it will get the job done. Trick here is to say it really cockily. Unfortnately, I feel really stupid for saying I don't even know teh ESP routine anyways. I know the Cube one, but does anyone mind sending a link for this one?

Ask her: choose a # between 1 and 10 most of the time they will choose 7 (10 % are your odds.) If you fail tell them tooo pick another number between 1 and 5 they will choose 3 (25 % odds )
