Was talking to girl whos number I got online she was watching some show and said she had room on her couch but I asked if that was an invite she was like maybee.

Wasn't quite sure what to say to maybes so I ignored it for bit then later asked how her show was. Then she was saying she had to get to sleep and said goodnight.

Really don't see the point in saying goodnight back does it matter?

I rarely find it worth texting a girl goodnight. In your case, I agree with everything said above. I don't say good night unless the girl is spending the night with me..It almost seems to close of a thing to initiate. I would say good night to my friend if I got done texting him. I would say talk to you later or something else. Only posting this in case someone else looks at this post and thinks its actually about whether or not to say good night to a girl and techniques like i did, not just advice. Good luck with the online babe!

It is a pretty needy thing to do, but in -some- situations it can be really sweet

When a girl texts goodnight I always say something on the lines of "I'll see you in your dreams, night!" or "sleep well, try not to dream about me" And that's actually a DHV don't see how it can be needy, or have no value if you be playful.

Cold, completely agree, If you pull the cocky funny card it works, but a simple goodnight is something I stay away from.

Being a sweet, endearing, nice guy is one of three reasons most people research pick up because girls don't like overly sweet nice guys. I used to be that way so I'm staying away from it.
