Hey guys, I just came up with this opener and was wondering what some of you think. It actually came out of a casual conversation and I thought this could be really good.
Me: Hey can I ask you a quick question? If your best friend invited you to a poetry reading just completely randomly, and they were performing, would you go?
HB: blah blah blah blah
Me: Yeah I had this buddy of mine who was going through this really bad break up so he wrote all of this poetry...he never even was interested in it before or even talked about it before but out of nowhere this break up inspired him to write and he signed up for this open mic night and wanted a couple of our friends and I to go out and see him and he even invited the girl who broke up with him...we tried convincing him it wasn't the best idea. I mean what would you have said?
HB: blah blah blah blah
Me:But we've known him for a while so we went anyways, it wasn't that bad and he met this girl there so it kind of all worked out for him!
It was something I just came up with, and it is my first original opener.
Any tips/critiques/thoughts?
