Your status is what your BL says it is. Walk in with purpose, smiling and with a little bounce in your step, and you wont look like you only showed up to bore a drunk girl with stories about your dog ruining your best pair of shoes. Also, tipping can get you into sets alot faster than you think. At the end of the night, those extra few bucks you spent for tips actually buy themselves almost unlimited opportunities. When you tip a bartender, they remember you, your drink of choice( and usually serve you considerably faster) Not only does it DHV to have a bartender notice you, and bring your drink right over, but it gives you that open time, where other people are waiting to order/receive their drinks, to engage the set you have next to you. This type of bartender/patron rapport of course takes some time, but you sound like a regular at your particular bar, and can easily build that with them in no time. I have multiple bars where this is tried and true, and it also gives you the opportunity to exit smoothly you dont succeed (after all, you were only at the bar to get your drink) or hopefully, stick around and continue escalating the process. I am not a bartender, but ask anybody that is a person of service and they will tell you how an extra dollar here and there goes a long way. Its been those times in between dirnk where Ive found most of my success
