Post subject:  Age problem.....I am in BIG trouble

Ok first off I am 19 years old (remember this because it will be important later)

I met this girl at an event, its kind of a supervised with the family type event (a youth gathering, I wouldnt go into so much detail) she is really cool and all. We did not talk that well except that I asked her why isnt she on the dance floor and introduced myself and later on I asked her for her number after I saw the signals (fixing/playing of hair, dilated pupils etc.) I told her "I don't usually ask for a random girl's number like this, but I have a feeling I would regret it if I don't ask for yours" she smiled and gave me her number (I got her number less than 10 minutes of meeting her, new personal best)

And since its a youth-event-with-the-family type of thing she thought it was a good idea to introduce me to her Mom O_O which was cool and I would say I handled it pretty well since she mentioned something about inviting her and her daughter again if our Chapter will decide to make an event.

There isnt much trouble until I found out she is like 16 or 17 O_O now I am deep doo doo good thing she is grounded off her phone until Monday (she told me this so I can call her then) giving me time to post this and ask some of my friends for an advice. What should I do in this situation, I obviously can't date her, and I know she will be expecting the call tomorrow.

Should I just not call or text her in general? It does not help that her Mom knows that I am 19 too lol (although she is pretty ok with it, methinks) But still below 18 and I am going to jail.....I need help! OMG!

Edit: I am not even sure if I should not call her anymore, mainly because I might see her again in future events of my organization, FML

You havn't done anything to her right? So there isn't much of a problem, it's not illegal to speak to 16 or 17-yearolds. :P

I feel sorry for you bro! Here in the uk its totally legal as long as she's 16 or over.

Find out exactly how old she is. if she's 17 but 18 in a few months then its up to you to figure out if she's worth the wait. Either way you are doing nothing wrong by talking to her, I would let her know straight away that you can only be friends due to her age, which will just make her want you more! Ultimately she will respect you for it, and when she comes of age will probably come looking for you.

If your only a year or two older, it shouldnt really be a problem. In maryland, the age of consent is 16.

check the laws from your state. I'm not positive on this, but I'm pretty sure only one state has age of consent set at 18. the other 49 are 17 or 16. if she's 17 then you're more than likely good to go. if she's younger than that, then just don't get caught

Also each state is different but some states allow leeway from like 2-5 years depending on state look it up

To your consolation, parents of teen girls would much rather their daughters go out and date someone slightly older. They feel their daughters are more safe with someone older and with some experience. The only downfall is that they were young once too and know exactly what an older guy thinks he can get easily from a younger girl. Some parents figure their daughters are going to do it anyway, so best with someone who they know their daughters are safe with. Other parents will look at you up and down, but seldom will they trip hard because your 2-3 years older. It would only be a big issue if you were over 21. But that's just my opinion.

I'm 20 years old, and the girl that I've been talking to for the past 7 months is 17. We both agreed to wait until she's 18 (in July), because her parents don't want her dating me. When I met them, I was super shy, and gave a very bad impression. I'm still trying after 7 months to get on her parents' good side, but I'm making progress all the time. They hated me at first.

Don't let the age difference discourage you. She's more than likely in the age of consent, and there really isn't much that can be done aside from her parents punishing her. Definitely call her back, and maybe talk to her about having you over for dinner one night so her parents can get to know you.

Wow, I was expecting her to be like 12 from the way you built that up. 17-19 isn't a big difference, and honestly PROVIDED THAT IT'S LEGAL age differences do not matter, at all :)

For anyone else who is in this situation and wants to get out, tell or text her that you have been actually dating a girl and feel really bad because you don't want to cheat on your girl, and again you feel really bad.
I used this the one time i had to, it worked, but i don't recall exactly the wording i used.

There are tons of guys that are now registered sex offenders because they screwed a girl that was 17 when they were 18 and the minor's parents flipped out because they were religious and wanted their daughter to be a virgin forever and pressed charges. The law will NOT FUCKING protect you here, parents are NOT rational when it comes to their kids. Also, the daughter might be pressured/warped by her parents to claim rape outright. Go by the law for your state and don't deviate. Just don't call the girl, problem solved.
