Hey guys I met a hottie on saturday night in a local cocktail bar and we've been texting ever since... ...now we have just arranged to go out tomorrow night for a date painting and decorating ceramics, its a pretty cool cafe we have here where they have loads of blank china (everthing from egg cups to tea pots and things) and you go in there and paint it - is a really cool fun place for a first date. I digress... My issue is she lives on my way in to town (she knows this), and asked if I was collecting her of for her to meet me in town... ...I drive an audi a4 so the car it's self is nothing to be ashamed of, the only problem is it is not the most reliable car in the rain, while it wont break down completely it can still be driven but only in a 'get you home mode' the onboard computer goes in to - so for those who know a little about cars it sits at 1,100 revs which is enough to get you to 40mph but will not deviate from that engine speed. It's going to piss it down tomorrow night... ...do i let her make her own way with the 10min car journey to meet me in town or do i collect her and run the risk of my car developing a problem and hope she doesn't realise. It's a toss-up. On one side, by not picking her up you appear inconsiderate, on the other hand you want to show your best self especially on a first date. My solution is total honesty. I would lay out the cards and see what she thinks. Let her know "Hey, I want to pick you up tomorrow, but I got to admit that my car has a problem running in the rain. It just doesn't speed up correctly, other than that, it's totally fine. Now the choice is yours, I can totally pick you up, but because of the rain, we'll be moving kinda slow. Or you can meet me downtown. Which would you prefer?" |

Can't you borrow a friend's car? Surely he would understand. |
