Post subject:  Conversation stopping on day 2's

A problem I have is, when on day2's, sometimes the conversation just stops, and we sit in silence for a little bit, maybe 10 seconds, sometimes more, until one of us says something to continue. It's not uncomfortable silence, for me at least, but it's not good either.

For this reason, I'm going for day 2's doing active things, skating, walking, bowling, whatever, anything I can use to make a situational comment to break the silence. And it's putting me off going out for meals or drinks, not that I don't do it, I just avoid it and try to set up other things most of the time.

I'm trying to get over this, but what advice/tips would you suggest to get over this and get more comfortable with it other than just going out more? Thanks alot for your help

There's nothing wrong with a little silence. You could even use it as a way for her to qualify to you. As long as you keep your conversation interesting and if you've been leading it, let her talk for awhile and see where it goes.

Say your date lasted 10 minutes.

Would you rather have 2 minutes of deep, awesome, rapport building conversation? Or would you rather have 2 minutes of good convo, followed by 8 minutes of uninteresting bullshit?

Ever see Pulp Fiction?

Mia: Don't you hate that?
Vincent: What?
Mia: Uncomfortable silences.
Why do we feel it's necessary to yak about bullshit order to be comfortable?
Vincent: I don't know. That's a good question.
Mia: That's when you know you've found somebody special.
When you can just shut the fuck up for a minute and comfortably enjoy the silence.
