| Post subject: | Help! How to handle Damaged Goods |
Went on a date w/ a 9.5, and she wouldn't shut up about her ex that apparently broke up w/ her 4 mo. ago. I thought I handled it ok by constantly changing the topic & negging her, but she INSISTED on bring him up on at least 4 other occassions--chick is litterally the definition of the term damaged goods, and I even told her that. After the 2nd time, I litterally wanted to just get up, throw a $5 down to cover my drink and bounce. Definitely would have if she wasn't so damn hot, I'm not anyone's Double Fudge Cholate Ice Cream plus Lifetime Channel. Anyway, I guess I'm looking for specific advice for the next time, cause I really don't care if I ever get together w/ this one again--by far the worst first date I've ever gone on, and I'd like to try to prevent this experience for ever possibly occuring again. TIA! |

I would listen a little at first, but if she went back to it after changing the topic the first time I would probably say something like: Wow, you're really self-involved. Here I am trying to have fun with you in the PRESENT, and all you can talk about is some d-bag from the PAST. I would pay careful attention to how you say it, but it should give her a bit of an ego check and hopefully shut her up about it. |
