| Post subject: | Good Interaction That Could Have Gone Better |
So I'm an allergy sufferer, and I have to buy the allergy meds that they keep behind the counter and require ID for. So I went to the drugstore to grab some today, and was greeted by a really cute (HB8-9) pharmacist behind the counter. I'm in a really good mood, so I approach the counter smiling and lock eyes with her immediately. She seems really receptive, so playfully I tell her that "I need some of these guys", and hand her the card for the drugs that I need. She continues smiling and says "can I see your ID please?". I cheerfully say "of course", which illicits a small chuckle from her. When she returns with the drugs, I say, "but only because you asked so nicely" and smile. This gets a full laugh out of her, then I say, "well, maybe also because I really need these meds". To which she says, "that might have something to do with it" and smiles. And I say, "just a little." She's still smiling, laughing, and locking eyes with me basically the entire time. I make a few other casual jokes about "signing my life away" and such, which illicit more laughs. The transaction ends, and I thank her. She, with genuine care in her voice, says "I hope you feel better," and then there's this look. As I'm unconciously giving her the casual "thanks, have a nice day", I get this look of expectation. Like there was something I could or should have done or said and I might have been able to get some sort of close. But I don't know what. I walked away from the situation smiling and feeling good, but still feeling like I missed out on an opportunity. But I'm not sure what I could have done there to push the interaction just a little bit forward. I feel like if I had tried to number close or push for a date, that would have come out of left field. It seemed like there was something she was expecting, but that wasn't it. Maybe she did expect the number close and I just didn't read it right. The other thing I know is that given much more than a minute longer into that interaction and I would have ended up putting my foot in my mouth by saying the wrong thing. So whatever I was going to do, it needed to be quick. Any suggestions on what I can do next time a situation like this comes up? How can I turn a positive interaction like this into something more? |

to fight this kinda situation, i used to number close everyone, specially when its weird. i all honestly this situation would've been weird to number close, that's why ya should number close everyone..The transaction ends, and I thank her. How do you typically segue to the # close? Do you have something you say to lead into it, or do you just go straight for the number? |

there are loads of special routines for this, including bringing up a possible day 2 scenario such as a movie/restaurant, but if ya force it though it always seems clunky, ya need time which ya don't have, what works for me?, "your a cool girl i like you, gimmie your number i wanna talk to you again" |

you can just tell her you are officially making her your drug dealer, and ask for her number so your secretary could contact her first thing tomorrow morning, or any other shit it doesn't matter |
