Sorry for the huge block of text, but this is troubling me indeed. I wasn't trying to ask her out or anything, but I'm really confused on what just happened. I simply wanted to ask her where I could a book, she works at the library. So basically she's fixings some books on the lower shelf while listening to music. I was holding a ton of books so I had to get really close to ask for help (so she could hear). She jumped up and was ready to help, basically I said, "Hey where can I find this book I couldn't find it anywhere?" and pointed to the book number. She directed me what section the book was located using her hands. At this point we were close less than two feet, she did not seem uncomfortable and her voice was genuinely happy. During this time she was looking both at the section she pointed to and looking back at me to see if I understood. I was shaking my head nodding, but I had yet to make eye contact with her. I decided to make eye contact since it was the nice thing to do, and I heard it was good for a first impression. Once I motioned my eyes towards her face, her smile had disappeared. She became expressionless. My eyes did not move directly to her eyes instead I was looking at her chin, cheeks, lips and finally her eyes. I don't know what happened, but somehow our distance had disappeared we were closer. Once my eyes reached hers I noticed just how large they were. I mean freakishly huge eyes. She did not turn away even when my eyes were on hers. Her eyes were wide open, it felt like forever. Her lips tightened back almost to make a smile but it did not become one. Then while still gazing into my eyes one of her shoulders dropped as if she was leaning, her motion was slow not fast her head leaned too. It looked very awkward, her eyes showed both discomfort and comfort in a way. Comfort that they were wide open but discomfort also in their movement before my eyes were locked it seems if her eyes rattled only to freeze at my eyes. Once I saw her shoulder and head leaned I realized how long we were staring at each other. So I turned my head to the side, I could still see her staring and I just mentioned "umm...OK." She nodded and as fast as she jumped up to help she jumped down to reorganize books and she quickly grabbed a book. So I left and said "Thank you." Her reply was "um huh, glad to help" the tone was the same as the first, but slightly faster I mean very slightly faster. I'm not sure if I totally freaked her out or made a good impression. It was probably 5+ seconds could be 10 seconds of staring. If I did freak her out I'm gonna stop the eye contact thing. |

Sounded more like a stare down then just making eye contact to me. Also, making eye contact should be the first thing you do. |
