Improv'd this today and might keep it in the tool box. Saw an HB7 a couple tables away at this coffee shop I frequent when I came in. As I sat down I looked up, we locked eyes for about 4-5 secs until she looked down at her book with a little smile. Immediately I get up, walk over to her, put my hands on the seat in front of her and say "are you sitting with anyone?" she looks up bashfully - acting like this is the first she saw me - "no". "ok thanks" the. I take the chair back over to my table and put my bag in it. |

That's what I was hoping y'all could tell me. I'm new to all of this, but right when I got to her table I thought "I feel like an arc right now I need to throw a twist into the mix" and that's what I did. I don't know what I expected to happen and in short - nothing did. When I looked up later she was back to her book. I knew I couldn't go back to that well twice but also felt it wasn't a bad funny/cocky opening |

In most pick-up situations its not a good idea to open and then walk away without closing. When you came over to her table... instead of asking for the chair you should of asked about her drink. Something like: "Excuse me... my drink isn't that good... what did you get?" That opener at least allow a conversation to flow from it. |

If she's reading, make a C&F comment about her book: "Don't want to ruin the ending, but the hero dies and the girl hooks up with the plumber." Deliver either with a very fake serious face or a shit-eating smirk. If you deliver it well, you'll get a laugh and she'll want to talk to you more. There's a great post on playing hard to get around here somewhere, but I can't find it at the moment. Link anyone? But if your opener works, you can go into that so she will work for your attention... |
