Post subject:  she is asking about your work

hey guys. ive been talking to the set of 3 in a club and they started asking what i do for a living. i gave them the used cigarette lighter repairman speech. they got intrigued and laughed but knew it was not true. they started to be persistent to the point where i couldnt change the subject. however i still kept it as a secret but i think they got upset and called me a secret agent. do u think it matters or what should have been done in perfect scenario? should i say what i do for a living after all?

it's definitely a common mistake. guys get so much into attraction that forget they are there to connect as human beings.

they wanted to know, they tried chasing the answer. instead of rewarding the fact they invested in you and tried to get to know you then you PUNISHED them.

yes, maybe 1 or 2 times you had funny replies. eventually you become try hard or not human. this goes attraction go OFF.

you can also say what you do on their 2nd attempt to ask. you could ask them to guess. you could tell about your job in over dramatic way. any option that does not punish their good behavior is good.

if you lie once to joke ok, twice not really ok, third time on the same question they think you are trying to hide some thing and you are not trustworthy and thats a definite DLV. you can try saying something like "that's the best thing you can come up with" when she asks you what you do (got that from "Let the Game Begin")

I've made the same mistake and noticed that more than 2 BS stories are a HUGE turnoff. Be funny once or twice, but if they persist, tell them what you do. Make it sound interesting though, or they will immediately think you were embarrassed of what you do.

Tell them you are a "Professional Squirrel Hunter"....

Hey if your job isn't that great just talk it up a bit. Work at Mcdonalds? Well then you are a "burger extraordinaire"... that way you arn't lying to them, but you are making your job sound fun, or important. I mean, someone has to flip the burgers, right?

I actualy have the problem with people jumping to conclusions about my job. As soon as I tell someone i work for the State Police they say "OMG you're a Trooper? Ever shoot anyone/ Can you get me out of trouble?"...... I then have to explain to them that I am a civilian dispatcher, and just sit behind a desk all day taking 911 calls and such. I can usually intrigue them with some good stories about the job though so it's okay.

As long as you talk about your job in a posotive light, and with energy you should be alright.... unless your jobless.... then you're screwed. lol
