| Post subject: | Cybercafe openers? |
For reasons I won't go into I spend a lot of time in cybercafes. Every so often you get an attractive girl stuck right next to you giving you IOI's. It is very difficult to approach in a cybercafe because:- 1) It is generally quiet and there is social pressure to keep it quiet, even if you don't care the girl probably does, so anything attention-getting is out as she'll just get too embarassed. 2) People are doing stuff and are not in social mode. 3) If it goes wrong you are kind of stuck there and it is real awkward. It is a bit like trying to pull in a library. For these reasons most of the classic openers aren't really appropriate. Direct openers are too much and night-time tactics just sound mad in this context. However, you do get a surprising amount of hot girls in these places and, as with a library, some of these girls are clearly sexual frustrated by the boredom and stuffiness of the enviroment. My approach is usually to find something situational eg "Shit you type so fast there is smoke coming off your fingers" or simply rub my hands together and say "Gee, its really cold in here. That way she'll usually start blabbing or give you enough IOI's to proceed if she's interested, otherwise you can just ignore her, it is not like you hit on her. That said, I just let a HB9 go who was so obviously wanting to get to know me she virtually creamed her seat. I simply couldn't think of anything appropriate as there was no behaviour she was exhibiting worth commenting on. Does any one have any suggestions as to all-purpose openers that would work in this situation? |

I did this in a pc cafe one time. I was with my friends playing counter-strike and this girl sat two chairs away with her friends. She was already looking at me when I saw her and I simply said: "You wanna play?" she responded with "What are you playing?" and it went from there I was forced to just ask her number because she was with all her guy friends. Never ended up calling her though...can't remember why. |

I'm guessing you'll have your computer handy with you. If she's sitting close to you open up a funny youtube video or a funny picture (have this planned). Laugh a bit to get her attention then make eye contact. Just turn your computer to her and say "Oh I was just watching this funny video. Wanna see it?" Continue the conversation from there. If she doesn't laugh but you really think it's funny then she's a boring girl and simply move on. |

Hey, TrueFlame, I once used this line at a cybercafe: "Hey, do you think they would notice if you and I walked out of here with these computers tucked under our shirts?" The girl laughed and joined in the fun, conspiratorial tone. She said we could rob a bank next, like Bonnie and Clyde. And I just took things from there. Hope this helps. Ciornia |
