Post subject:  Work Openers?

I work at a clothing store Express and most of the clientele is 90% women and 10% men. I have looked on the forum and the internet just to find the same ol greetings like Hi, or Hello and How are you. Sometimes I can come up with just a spontaneous opener to open some women but then I end up sayng the opener as everyone else who works in retail.

ME:How are you doing today
HB: Im doing fine, you?
ME:Doing Good, can I help you find something today.

Obliviously I am trying to open HB and get the number by the time I am cashing them out which I have done quite a few times. But it's alot harder working then when you are at a party or club because you are not in that same state of mind.

Any advice would great. as well that it could help others on this forum who as well work at clothing stores, or any other type of retail that involves conversation lol.

You're the sales associate, where your job is to talk to your clients, so I would think it would be easy in such an environment. Except you don't want to risk using much kino when on the job.

What needs to happen to move beyond the simple client-employee interaction is for one of you to do something random, unexpected, surprising. Most common icebreaker is laughter. I work as a retail clerk in a grocery store tho, but when I get customers to laugh, they open up. Try cracking a joke, making a direct, but still appropriate comment, and watch for when femal customers give you open ended questions that you can fluff and bullshit with.

In your situation you can see how this can lead to a quick/discreet # close? Let me know how this goes and also tell us more about how you close. Closing is a problem for retail workers if the management discourages fucking customers.

Easy

Say something deep and personal to connect with her whilst she's buying - this will seperate you from all the other assistants and make you seem like a person. Just something about you that you would only tell a close friend. Stuff about how you are generally feeling, or the relationship with your family are good starting places, but it has to come from you.

The sign of her buying it is that she opens up to you.

Then, to take things in a more playful direction

"So where you going to wear these shoes/boots?"

<little bit of teasing banter>

at the end, if you get some IOIs

"As a proffesional shoe sales man I really need to see how these shoes/boots/etc work in the real world. I'm busy this week, but give me your number and I'll give you a text"

or more direct

"you know what, I meet a lot of people in this job, and you seem really cool. Do you like ice cream? Well...." number or take her to ice cream place instant date close.

You'll need lots of good eye contact
