who’s the selector when choosing a mate, men or women? Some in the fog might say men, but most of society would agree that it is women who make the call. The current tradition is the perception that men have to prove that they will try to fulfill any desire a women may request so that she will approve of him, but is that true? In reality both genders are selecting. It makes sense, feelings have to be mutual in order for a man and women “get down”, so when put it that way it sounds like common sense, but the real difference lies in the ways in which we are selective. Put a man and women alone on an island and eventually they will mate regardless of there looks or personality, which scientifically proves the statement “not if you were the last person on earth” false. However, put a man on an island alone with a hundred women, and regardless of looks or personality, give it time and he will have sex with all of them. Put a women on an island alone with 100 men, and she will only have sex with one man, the most dominant male. With these statistics you have to promote the idea that everyone on the island survives, so they are not allowed to harm each other in this hypothetical situation. A mans primitive nature drives him to have sex with the most genetically healthy women he can, foremost, which is mostly betrayed by her looks, but also any other women as long as it does not jeopardize ever mating with the more physically attractive women. In order to carry out his role as a dominant man in his tribe, however, he had to first select only women who could most effectively fit into his busy schedule. Women’s primitive nature drives her to select one man who will guarantee her the greatest chances of survival in an old tribal environment. One of the things she screens for is that he himself screens her, to see if she fits into his life, this sub-communicates to her that he is a dominant male in his tribe. So in a sense, it was women who would pursue the alpha males, but if they tried to fit into his life, he would then have to provide for her by supporting and protecting her, bringing her food, and having sex with her, or else he became useless. So the men still did have to provide for the women and pursue sex, but if they did this when she was not working to fit into his life it was a sign that he was not a dominant male, and the women would decline him for better options. |
