Post subject:  GREAT BAR OPENER TRY FOR YOURSELF!!
Here is the situation: I am in a crowded college bar and this happens naturally

I am waiting for two girls that are standing in front of me to order drinks at the bar and I get tired of waiting

Me: (walk next to the HB8) Are you girls ordering drinks or what!!?
HB8:Yeahhhh

Me: Well this is how its done I tell her (I get some ones out of my wallet and start waving them in the air)
HB8: We're not freshman!!!

Me: ??? I never said you were??
HB8: We thought you were making fun of us!! Whats your name!? (IOI)

And you are in my friends...the day after this happened I realized why this is a good opener...
1. Good neg for hotties
2. You are DHV
3. The time constraint is already there because they know you are just trying to buy your drink faster and leave them alone

Try it and tell me how it goes!!

I don't think that would get the same kind of success in the UK but i'll give it a try next time I'm out and let you know how it goes...

I was out the other night though and came up with a pretty good bar opener IMO, I'm pretty new to this so apologies if this has been said somewhere before.

So I was at the bar and there was this HB7/8 next to me. I happen to see an elastic band on the bar top too.

I picked it up and started aiming it across the bar. I go to the girl next to me 'so who shall we get' in a playful way.

She had a think about it and then said "I cant pick one, it's not nice blah blah". Most of the one's I tried this with said the same kinda thing, one girl picked someone who turned out she knew in the first place.

Anyway after her comment about not being able to pick one I responded with 'ah your obviously a good girl. Well I'm going to pick one and blame it on you anyway then' (or something to that effect given what they said).

They usually reply with "ah you cant do that" or "they wont believe you".

Then I was in and just took the conversation from there. This isn't thoroughly field tested, I tried it one night on like four girls but it seemed to be pretty cool. I'd be interested to see what you guys think.

It was funny though with the original girl I tried this with the whole opening was natural as I was just making up things on the spot and it went well. Then when I tried moving it forward and bringing in other stuff I've read on here etc I choked big time! she actually said "ha what kind of line was that" to one thing. lol As I said i'm still new to this :)

Ravstar,

I don't think you should follow the opener exactly how he did it since it was a college bar but I could see a good amount of instances where this would work with no problem.

This weekend, its staying in my mind.

I get what your saying DDrake. I think that's why I crashed so badly with that 1st girl I spoke to because I didn't adapt what I used to the situation. But hey its all a learning process right :)

Since I'm trying to understand the psychology portion...

The DHV was the waving of a couple dollars.

I'm not understanding the neg, unless they negged themselves by assuming you thought they were fish.

The time constraint makes sense, I would ask "if they're IOIing, why not stay around and see what happens?" but I quickly realize, if they're really interested, they'll come to you or call you back.

ravstar i like that....very playful. just a pity there probably wont be many rubber bands lying around at every bar you go to, otherwise i really like it. Guess you could pick up a bottle top or something else you find on the bar.

something similar i do...when there are only girls serving at the bar, guys often get served first. I stand behind my target and after a few minutes of waiting I say 'oh my god how long have you guys been waiting??' they say blah blah (normally complain about the service)...i say...'let me guess theyre serving all the hot guys and completely ignoring you right?'.... 'yee i know they always do that! blah blah'...'here let me help you out' and i budge in front of them and get served very quickly (I know alot of the bar ladies at the bars we go to which is a big bonus), girls are fascinated how i get served immediately. i look at them smiling and say 'see THATS how you do it, let me know if you ever want lessons, they wont be free though!'...they giigle, and carry on chatting...

Another one is when youre standing next to a girl at the bar and youre both waiting to be served (actually you purposely go and stand next to your target!)...after a minute or 2 you lean over and say 'seems busy tonight so how about this...if you get served first, you order my drink for me [show her money in your hand], and if i get served first i'll order yours, deal?'...99% of the time she will comply. This doesnt seem like anything special but what youre doing is forcing both of you into a situation where ONE of you will be doing a favor for the other person, and from there natural reciprocation can take place. very easy to carry on chatting once youve done this.


The above are just easy/fun ways to start convo's without making it too obvious that youre hitting on them

Great post visionxxx il try some of those...oh yeah and for the guy that posted above the DHV is that you are showing them know how to order drinks and also it shows that you are assertive whereas the HBs are not and just stand there stupidly hahaha

Oh dear, I can imagine that this wouldn't work out in the UK.
I used to work as a bartender in england and people there get crazy if you don't wait your turn.
But in an american college bar, heck it sounds pretty good!

The UK and all its "queuing", haha.

In the American bar scene its usually every man for himself.
