Personally I think body rocking is as good as a false time constraint if not better because it's a non-verbal que to what you supposively about to leave. In most cases you want your false time constraints to be used at the same time as the body rock to show congruence in what you are saying.also if you body rock after an opinion open or another opener, what do u say to the hb or group after you body rock??? Most of the guys I know, who have been doing this for more than a few months, out there don't use false time constraints much anymore they mostly just use body rocking to convey the same thing without saying a work about leaving. As they deliver their opener they naturally body rock out and then back in as the set hooks. You can use body rocking when delivering your opener to show a non-verbal false time constraint. You can also use body rocking if the group is not hooking after the openers to see if they "chase" and don't want you to leave. Another instance you might use body rocking is if the girl is not complying with your interactions. Instead of negging you might slowly start turning your body away from her instead of facing her. Combined with body rocking this can show disinterest as if you are not happy and about to leave. Hope this helps explain it for you, Jon |

This is an interesting subject, and one that I am not very familiar with. If you're referring to the process of leaning out when opening and slowly coming in some when the set hooks, then I agree that it can be a good thing. It can be used to positively reinforce good behavior, negatively shun bad behavior, and convey disinterest. However, I think if you're talking about actually rocking back and forth/side to side in a rhythmic fashion then it can be a bad thing. This is the sort of thing I see public speaking students do ALL the time when they are nervous. It's a way for the body to constantly release nervous energy, and I think its a big TELL to the set that you're nervous in your attempt to approach them. Again, this is something I haven't really dealt with because I got rid of the nervous rock a long time ago, it's just my opinion. Breaker |

the best time to use false time constraints and thus body rocking is while opening, like you go in with an opinion opener and as they respond you do it. when they finish answering and you finish your body rocking you can use a verbal FTC to emphasize your previous action. that way, when they don't really want you to be there yet, they're not worried you'll stay all night long. and when they realize you are, they don't care because you'll be past hook point |
