I've only tried this once i am still yet to see if it goes good or bad. Hey guys would you know where ..... street is(ask a st not to far away)? if they respond by answering correctly you ask for their opinion on where to eat and club with false time constraint etc. if they respond by saying no then you map it out for them and tell them how to get there as they you knew and you're just asking to them to give them help. It should seem really random and hopefully make them laugh and if not then there's another one not to try. |

Here's one of the few areas where AFC Adam and I actually disagree, or else I just haven't made work for me. What you're talking about is one of his classic openers which is a functional opener. These open amazingly well yet are extremely hard to transition with. Now Adam would say you follow up with "Wow thanks, you know you guys are actually really friendly. You must not be from the city." The idea is to force frame them with a qualification statement and have them feel obligated to be friendly now and talk to you. Great in theory but honestly when I've tried it I found it didn't work to well, at least here in Miami. Usually got weak smiles a mumbled "thanks" and walk away since it came off as me trying to force the conversation. HOWEVER. If the opener is just used for building SP it's fine since you can use the "wow thanks you guys are actually friendly" but followed by an actual time constraint of "well I gotta get back to my friends but nice meeting you". Then you can open them for real next time you see them. The problem with your opinion transition though is that it can comes off as trying to hard for the conversation and rapport seeking if delivered wrong, but I admit probably the best bet of a transitioner. Although you might as well just use the opinion opener from the start in that case, unless it's a moving set in which case the functional will be easier to hook. If they say no and then you tell them where it is, then it comes off incongruent and your adding no real value since they don't care. IMHO I find functional openers extremely hard to run solid game with because of that very awkward transitioning part since any follow up seems try hard and rapport seeking. I only use it to build SP which it's great for. Hope this helps Psych |

Try this 1. It has worked for me pretty comfortably: Start by asking them an opinion: Eg) Do girls rate guys on the shoes they wear? HB: bla bla who cares... Me: Anyway Im about to head to a business interview (interview coming up), and thought what better way to get the gitters out then to approach some attractive girls. HB: gibbles etc Me: Do you think your attractive? HB: bla bla... Me: Are you the kind of girl thats into trying new things? bit of adventure? HB: If no (tease her) if yes continue with some KINO like the chin on shoulder dance routine Then take it from there with whatever |
