I never really had a problem with approaching women, the problem i was having was actually keeping their attention.

I found that after a short while the conversation came to a holt because the content got boring, it wasn't till i watched the film "Now you see me" till i had the idea of incorporating a few easy tricks into my set!

Ill tell you now, best move i ever played! spend a couple hours a day learning a bit of sleight of hand and it payed off massively!

First girl i i tried it on was at the bar, when i got my change i turned to her and said 'Hey, wanna see something awesome?' Of course she was now intrigued, i did a sleight called the fore arm vanish (basically it makes it look like i pushed the coin into my arm) she was amazed! then i said catch you around and walked off, later on in the night i saw her scouting around so i "accidently" bumped into her.
The smile on her face was a grin from ear to ear! she looked really excited and after a little chat and a dance we headed back to hers :P

Well fuck you mister know it all! I'm 100% not a magician and a bit of basic sleight of hand works for me nicely... just because your game doesn't involve magic doesnt mean you can chat shit!

I would avoid magic. Not because it's not cool, but because it kind of puts off a weird needy vibe. It makes me think of The 40 Year Old Virgin. I'm sure females would think of the same movie.

If you wanna do magic, I'd stick to things that require no props whatsoever. Like magic involving things at a bar; straws, coasters, coins, pool balls, etc.

I'd also introduce it after some rapport has been established.

Maybe it'll work for you. Just keep it super natural like you just spontaneously decided to do a magic trick with this thing at the bar.

My only issue with magic is that it's a gimmick and sets the precedent of "let me entertain you". If it contrasts with your physical appearance, like a bodybuilder or completely covered with tattoos, it can make you seem like you have more depth. Who would expect a guy with teardrop tattoos under his eye of being able to pull a rabbit out of his beer?

In the RIGHT circumstances this could work, but I wouldn't encourage it necessarily.

Mystery practiced magic in clubs all the time...because he was a magician!

I'm not necessarily saying that you should NEVER do magic tricks but it should be something "natural" rather than too gimmicky and try hard.

Like who the fuck goes to a bar and starts performing random magic tricks?

Again, if it is congruent with your persona, or a small magic trick, then fine. Just don't go overboard.

I think learning a couple slight of hand gags is a cool idea. Just don't be all "I learned a magic trick I'm gonna get laid tonight!" You'll end up with the reality of eating late night Taco Bell in bed with your dog.
