| Post subject: | Can't come up with openers... |
I woke up this morning, got on the computer, opened up Wordpad, and was just sitting there, thinking of some openers I could possibly run. Can't think of anything, seriously. What are the guidelines for making a good opener? I can't get started unless I know how to open. This is frustrating. I could use some of the openers in the stickied topic above, but I want to come up with my own original openers. |

If I were you I'd just think of weird questions about random things in life. Like if you see something interesting and have a question about it take note. For example I was chilling in my hotel last week watching TV when I went by Dr. Phil. I thought to myself, "hey does Dr. Phil have a last name?" That's a perfect random opener. Just gotta take note of stupid stuff like that which comes up in everyday life. Hope this helps. |

go ahead and read all the openers in the sticky to help you draw up ideas. The gist of the opener is to get the girl talking, instead of just saying yes and no. It isn't suppose to telegraph any interest (unless you're using direct openers). Here's a few things I learn about indirect openers (from Stephen Nash, AKA Playboy in the Game): There's 3 parts to it: -The question -The backstory -The Twist You might think you come up with a good indirect opener, but if you don't have a good response to the answer the HB gives, you end up stalling the conversation really quickly. An example is the opener "Who lies more, guys or girls?" If she say "guys", then what do you say? Do you ask why? and then what after that? Hope that she opened enough to let you draw a new thread? Instead ask "It's a 2 part question, who cheats more, guys or girls?" and then you throw in a backstory. If you don't know this one, let me know or you can look it up on the web. I'm too lazy to finish writing the whole thing. The twist is part of the backstory for this one too. The other thing is as style mentioned many times: "Root the opener." You don't want to sound like you're taking a survey. Just come up w/ a good reason why you're asking the set that question. If it sounds plausible, they won't smell the game is on, until its too late. |

Why do you need to think of openers when there are so many out there already? All else fails just hit them with an opinion question e.g. jealous girlfriend, who cheats more etc. I personally prefer situational openers e.g. girl in a bookstore in the blah section, "hi, do you know much about blah? My friend's girlfriend is into blah and I want to get her a good book about it. With situational openers just ask a question about the situation that presents itself.
I could use some of the openers in the stickied topic above, but I want to come up with my own original openers. |

An opener is just any question to start an interaction. The one ive been using alot lately is 'who lies more, men.... or women? Its the way that its delivered that will open the set. Just say it in a confident manner and dont expect fireworks. Just make sure you have a reply ready for theirs. The only answers they can give are, men, women, both or why are you asking me you freak. Usualy the answer is men or women so have a short reply as to why you ask. Then i follow up with 'well who cheats more men or women'. Then DHV from there. Ladypleaser xxx |

I always just go with the first thing that pops into my head. I've asked girls if they want to shoot pool before. I've asked girls where they got their hats (on St. Patty's day) I told girls that they should come hang out with me and my boys because there's 4 of them and 4 of us, and we're lots of fun. I've just walked up to girls and stared at them and said "Hi" I've said, "Hey, I just saw about 5 guys in a row hit on you, now I'll give it a shot", lol. That was a funny one. I've walked up to girls and said, "Lisa", then they say "what?" I respond with, "You look like a Lisa, am I right?" Some work, some don't. I don't give a fuck if they do or not. I never really use planned out, canned openers. This weekend I'm gonna try my first thought out opener, and it's gonna go like this: "Are you from the Carribean islands?" "Cause Jamacian me crazy." Then I'll just stand there with a straight face. The point is that she will understand that I'm not really being serious, and I'm not really stupid enough to use a lame pick-up line like that. If it works it works, if not FUCK IT!!! It's all about having fun man. |

Went to a bar with a buddy last weekend. As we walk past a table of pretty HBs, I look at them and tell my friend "watch out for that table." (so the HBs could hear me and see me pointing at them) 10 minutes later I walk back by their table, made eye contact with 2 of them and put up my fingers like a cross and said "not tonight you succubuss'!" They were confused and thought I was weird. However, one of them said, "what did you call us?" I reply "Succubuss....A woman sent from hell to suck the soul from a man." The best looking one responded with, "oh that is why you said watch out for our table." I replied, "No! I said watch out for your table because you are the prettiest best looking women in the place. Let's not lie. Look around. Unfortunately, due to you being so attractive and beautiful it may be hard to carry on a decent conversation. Pretty girls usually have the personality of a rock and are about as interesting as a wet carrott." They were offended but started laughing. Somethin worked. I'm not sure exactly what I did but I was sitting at this table the rest of the night with 2 chicks being very friendly. I was given a number without asking or expecting and wow.....To open a set I just start talking. TALK! Maybe it is my personality that helps me get away with being a loud mouth weirdo. I don't know. Just be comfortable and talk. Play 20 questions and tell the broad she is boring if she seems disinterested. I had no intention of anything but ended up chillin with 4 hot hot hot chicks and one gave me a number. Amazing. Some of US might be trying too hard sometimes. Closing is my weakness....or I am such a weirdo I scare people. Either way.....COOL! You guys have to remember every situation is different. |

I go to a college that has its social scene revolve around bars, so one opener that I use that has never failed yet is something along the lines of "Did you guys get questioned when you got carded at the door? The reason I am asking is because my friend is coming and he has a shitty fake id." I'm always looking for critique, so how do you guys feel about that one? Any suggestions? |

How about... A SITUATIONAL OPENER!!!!!!!!! That is, where you open a set, by adapting to the situation and envirnment you are in. Not by using something you planned on a notepad. Not by using the same question you've used on the last 10 girls you talked to. This, will show them, you. It's your mind that actively picked a point of interest, right then, right there. And the chance of 'running out of material' is eliminated. Why? Because you didn't have bag full of it. You now have, an entire night's worth of material, all around you. If you're going to use an opinion opener, why make something up. The other night my friend said he wanted to take up fencing, and told me to do it too. "It's a bit....poncy... isn't it?" I asked. "Hmm, I don't know. Is it?" he replied So I turned around on the couch I was on to the girl next to me. "Hey, do you think fencing is a poncy sport?" I genuinely wanted an outside opinion on this conversation. It wasn't fake. It wasn't contrived. Try it out. You'll impress yourself |

I just get my daily opener on my cellphone, I texted "MYWING" to 313131. I get the opener of the day everymorning, then use it all day - by the end of the day I have perfected and bagged a new opener under my belt. I use it everywhere I go that day. |

These are great. I have the same problem and usually I just try to throw myself at her and see what questions come up. It's usually really stupid shit so I think I better bookmark this topic lol. |

Just a thought... I have started to run into old sets and boy am I glad that I ejected in a good way... I have started to open with "HEY people!" followed by my actual opener. This way, if they are an old set that I have forgot, they will have a second to say hi back and Im in. Love those 3 points about opening btw, great. I can just add the usual, do not show neediness and no sexuality at all! Convey that you would be perfectly fine without talking to them, it is just a coincidence that you opened that set. |
