| Post subject: | Got Email...Tried to Follow Up, But Email Discontinued |
Hey Guys, First post, discovered this board recently. Lovin' it! As the title suggests I'm looking for a follow up plan. I met a girl who worked in a store today, and she helped me pick out a book. We chit chatted and I got some good vibes from her. I've been asking for emails recently, instead of numbers, based on some statistical research on response rates from another PUA I've been reading. She told me it was an old email address, and I didn't think to get a number too. Grrrr. I emailed her this evening, but the email is now 'deactivated' from lack of use and I got one of those message failed autoresponses. Part of me knows she may have been throwing me a curve to get me to go away, but her vibe was good with me, and I'm trying to think positively and just assume she's not much of an emailer. I'm thinking of going back to the store at some point over the next few days, and following up and trying to get a number instead. ...obviously don't want to come across as a stalker...but man, this one was hot and worth a second go. Anyone had similar situations? How did you handle? Thanks dudes. -) |

Not had a similar situation because I ask for the digits. It's just easier, and more commonly accepted. Nevertheless, if you go back to the store I wouldn't make a beeline for her. Go there and be looking at the merchandise. Then make sure you teasingly bust her balls for giving you a non-working email. Could say you usually email because it's easier for you but you'll make an exception for her this one time, and get her #. Again be sure to teasingly give her a hard time for having you go through the trouble of having to put her # in your phone, etc. (not however for going through the trouble of going back to the store - you were going there anyway to check out the store, you weren't going back there specifically to see her again). You are the prize. |

This sounds like PUA advice from 10 years ago or from a PUA over 35.Dude, not many younger (under 30) people even read email often. Next time, go for a format (facebook/phone) that they're more likely to use. |

ChocolatePUA is right. Social media is best form of capturing contact info if not the phone number. I personally always go for the phone number. It's so much more powerful. If not an option, go for Instagram, Snapchat, or Facebook. Facebook is most personal of those 3 options. Instagram and Snapchat are tied. But phone number is where it's at. Without the phone number, you are not too much further along than where you started with that girl unless you know for sure that you will see her again and have a strong presence on social media. |

Thanks Chocolat and everyone else. I got the email advice from 'Double your Dating' by David DeAngelo. Just checked and yea - it's written in freakin 2001, so spot on. It's old. OK, lesson learned. Ya know, when I asked for her email, she said "Really, are you sure?". I thought she wondered if I was sure I wanted to initiate things with her, ...maybe she meant 'ask for my phone number douch bag' Thanks everyone. -) |
