| Post subject: | To open a girl on the street |
This afternoon I was in my neighborhood and decided to take the subway, I turned myself and saw an attractive girl walking towards the subway station nearby. She was alone. I intended to opener her at that moment, but we soon lost eye contact. In case that I meet the same situation next time, how can I open her? Here is my answer if I meet the same situation next time: Me: Are you going to take the subway? Her: Yes... Me: Me, too. oh, there is something on your hair(Negging her). Her: Really?(Touch her hair with her hand) Me:(Transitional openers)Do you believe in telepathy? Think of a number between 1 to 4, the first number which is popped up in your head. Don’t say it. 3, Right? Her:... What do you think of my answer? |

OK, my two cents. I'm not a PUA by any means, I get impatient and eject really early if I don't get my way. But I know the basics and here's my take. 1) You're putting way too much thought into it, making it a mental masturbation exercise. Just do it. 2) You are switching threads way too quickly. You're opening, negging, and performing an overused magic trick within 15 seconds. If her head isn't visibly spinning, she's just gonna be confused, and possibly annoyed. 3) Don't neg that early. I mean, you can conceivably do it, but I wouldn't. I don't neg unless she says something bitchy, and more often than not I eject at that point because... life's too short for bitches. Just talk to the girl. She's not a robot, you can't program responses out of her. "Are you taking the subway" is just an opener, and it can work, but if you don't deliver it right it's boring. This is how I would do it. I would wait til it was OBVIOUS we were both taking the subway, maybe while we're waiting for it to come. Therefore making it playful and a little sarcastic. Then the conversation would go something like this: Blues Guy: "I have a feeling you're taking the subway" HB: "What ever would give you that idea" Blues Guy: "I just have this sixth sense about these kinds of things. It's a gift. I'm actually taking the subway too if you didn't know." HB: "I had no idea!" (probably smiling at this point) Then I usually joke about how we have so much in common, both taking the subway. That's my personality though, and it works. Only you can decide if that fits you or not. I'm a little nuts personally, so at this point if she's laughed at all I'll go the humorous route and make up shit. Like... Blues Guy: "So where are you headed to? Chuck E Cheese's? (dunno where you're from but in case you didn't know, this is like an arcade for kids... joke being that adults don't go there). HB: blah blah blah Blues Guy: "I used to go there all the time. I was the best ski-ball player (kids game) in the south. But then I gave it up to pursue a career in the NBA." or some bullshit. You don't have to joke that much, but just... be more creative. And THEN I get a little more serious, because you don't wanna turn into a clown. If she's the more serious type I usually eject, but that's just me. Smiley, laughing girls are easier to hit on. Use what she says as fuel for your next thing. If she asks you anything about yourself at this point, you've more than likely hooked her, so run with it. |

Seemed somewhat forced...? You immediately interviewed her without saying hello. I would only ever approach like that if I knew the girl to see from a social environment like work in another department or college from another class. Then you could lead on with "I noticed you in work/class and thought i'd say hello *smile*" so it's not awkward then lead into something more interesting like number games and what not -- best thing about those guessing games is even if you're wrong you'll get a chuckle out of it. Richard La Ruina gave very good and clear guides on approaching. One of the important tips was simply saying "Hey" when you start talking to her. It's passive, not aggressive and it's aloof. You immediately come across as non-threatening which disarms a woman -- or anyone for that matter -- depending on how you deliver it. Just be calm, confident, speak slowly and have a reason for talking to her so it doesn't come across as intimidating. |

The telepathy openers are from Mystery Method, I know that it is like an interview if your openers are questions, but Mystery often uses question openers. You immediately come across as non-threatening which disarms a woman -- or anyone for that matter -- depending on how you deliver it. Just be calm, confident, speak slowly and have a reason for talking to her so it doesn't come across as intimidating. I have no problem to simply saying "Hey". But the problem is that I don't know what to say after that "Hey". Most of the time I don't feel shy, but I don't know what to say. Most of the time I am calm, confident, but if you don't know what to say, it is useless no matter how you are calm or confident, you still need to say something even if you're calm an confident. You can't say anything even if you are calm and confident, for example, if you say "Can you speak Japanese?" The girl will think, "Why does this guy ask me this question? It is so out of the blue. What's the purpose of this guy?" I know that if the openers are questions, it will seem like the interaction is an interview or interrogation. Oddly enough, almost all classic openers in Mystery Method are questions. If we don't want the interaction is like an interview, we need to use statements. But how can we use statements? Most of the time I simply don't know what to say if I don't use questions. What technique can make the conversation flow naturally with statements? I mean how can I naturally improvise the statements? |

I think you had a great opener, but i just did some minor adjustments on how i would handle this. Me: Hello! Her: Hey! Me: Are you going to take the subway? Her: Yes... Me: Me, too. oh, there is something on your hair(Negging her). Her: Really?(Touch her hair with her hand) Me: No i'm just playing with you a little bit. (wink and smile to show her that you are negging her) Her: (Laughs and smiles) Me: My name is <insert name> tough, nice to meet you! Her: Oh my name is <inserts her name>! Me: Whats your destination/what where you doing in the city today/something else to talk about. And then have a little chat with her to get some rapport, with a little joke, but not after every sentence! Depending on how much time you have together (because she/you might be in a hurry) you have to work to a number close in a higher than usual speed! Don't get me wrong, i'm not a great PUA and don't go out of the door specifically to do day game or something, so i'm not a PUA-guru or something. But if i manage to start a conversation i consider myself good in fooling around with her based on humor and getting a great conversation going, provided she is putting some effort in the conversation herself! |
