Hi all, I've always been a sucker for situational openers, they seem to come naturally for me... But lately I'm struggling to transition from them, and am starting to think maybe I should start using more canbed openers. I know every situation is different, but on average what kind seem to get the best results for you ??? Ideas and opinions to help me out please Yours, Yoghurt |

Quote: Hi all,
If you suck at transitioning from an opener to something else, then a canned opinion opener wouldn't help too. Usually after the opener, personally I would lock-in and say "You guys seem pretty interesting, let's get to know each other." (Of course assuming they're engaged) The reason I do this is because now they're compelled to ask questions about you, not the other way round like what most other guys do, and you don't want to go into the "What you do for a living?" "Where do you live?" interview mode.I've always been a sucker for situational openers, they seem to come naturally for me... Ideas and opinions to help me out please Yours, Yoghurt For your stage I would suggest working on transitioning rather than the opener itself. Of course I would also recommend experimenting different style of openers: direct, indirect and situational, and build your own style of openers just for yourself. There's no best openers out there, you'll have to find the ones that suits your character and personality. I am personally detaching myself from opinion openers and trying out direct openers because they suit my playful character more, and they so much work better. |

zexphyrium gives excellent advice here. Something I'd add, if you have trouble from transitioning from the situational, bring up something about her clothes or her hair. In short, another situational. Maybe a verrrry gentle neg but make it jokey and light-hearted. This will create a nice, fun banter vibe. |

Situational are the best kind. The default transition is "hi I'm (your name)" An introduction means that you are there to have a conversation and to get to know them. Don't bother talking about wondering what to buy your friend's girlfriend as a present, an introduction is a natural transition. For example: * woman texting on her phone alone* You- if he doesn't meet you in 5 mins, dump him Her- haha no just waiting for a friend that's running late bla You- Her- I'm Sarah. Then get to know her and ask her what you want. |

Personally I prefer the canned openers, but overall, an opener can be anything, its something to simply start a conversation going. Whether its situation or canned, as long as it opens a set its a winner! Its what you do after that, that really counts such as negs, DHV's and locking in |

I prefer situational, but honestly, if this section didn't even exist on the forums everyone's game would be so much better!! (i.e. Openers don't get you women!!) |

This... So many guys have this stupid obsession with an opener. Your opener will not get you laid. Doesn't work like that. It's just a way of starting an interaction. |

Always go for situational to help flex your conversational skills, and have canned as backup. |
