I few girls were sitting at a table and then they left to do some stuff, but they left some of their clothes at the seats. Then I just went there sat down and was chilling and drinking my beer. After 5 minutes two of them came back, with a wine bottle and 7 wine glasses and then the conversation went like this

Girl1: oh, so you are sitting here?
Me: Yeah, the guy asked me where I wanted my food and then I pointed at this table, plus the sun is really great here.
Girl2: We are celebrating that some of us have graduated.
Me: Oh, nice in what field?
Girl2: Engineering.
Me: Cool, then you are used to deal with a lot of math. Then you'd probably do good as economists as well, or get a job in the private sector.
Girl1: I don't think so.
Me: No? An engineering friend of mine works in the private sector as a consultant and he makes a lot of money.
Girl2: Not to be rude, but we are here celebrating and we got here early to get a good table, so we want you to go somewhere else and find a table elsewhere.

So, what should I have done differently?

You talked about business and money and in a very casual way- it was the last thing they wanted to hear on the day of the celebration as those topic stress people up. You weren't playful and teasing but rather asking questions- there was a very good opportunity for you to tease them for their forgotten clothes for example. In general you should be positive and funny and make them laugh and this way perhaps they would have opened to accept you in their celebration.

I think you went wrong by sitting at their table. It was probably obviously waiting for their return, which might have sent out the creepy vibe straight off. You should maybe have sat at the next table and opened from there. In my opinion a good pua always looks opportunistic. It was almost like the guys who camp outside womens bathrooms. Got to admire your balls though! Ha ha

Nothing, because you did a cool thing: you sat down at a table full of people you don't know. Most PUA's never get to that stage. If you can do that, you can open any set. Pat yourself on the back or whatever. It's a big deal.

Now, to actually get laid rather than just develop your skills, you are going to have to do something more subtle. This is PUA 101. Talk to people over your shoulder as if you are going somewhere, issue a false time constraint "I have to be somewhere but I just need to get a female perspective on something". That way they know getting rid of you isn't a problem.

Probably, the particular set you were hitting on would not have been receptive to any kind of approach however well executed. You need to get an intuitive sense of which type of girls want to get hit on and which don't, which is where IOI's (indicators of interest) come in.
