Okay. I am very new to the game. One of my biggest challenges is approaching a random girl. After very minimal thought, I came to the conclusion that this might be a good way to approach a girl.
ME: "Hey. My friend and I got into a huge debate earlier and we need a girl's opinion. Do you mind?"
HER: "Sure what was it about?"
ME: "What do you think is the best way to approach a girl?"

I'm pretty sure a lot of you are familiar with the "I need your opinion" approach. But what do you think about the 2nd thing I say? Would that be okay? Or will she just laugh at me and walk away? Also if you guys have any other ideas for what to say we were "debating about" that would be appreciated.

I wouldn't do that. I'd ask something else, because you're implying that you don't know how to approach a girl, or you're unsure. And she's just assuming she's giving you advice because you need it and want to approach a girl who isn't her. I would steer clear of this opener.

I would tell you another opinion to ask but I think they're all cheesy, that's just me though. So I've never really been into the "opinion" stuff. I just think they're transparent and spoiled by the overuse.

Could work, who knows. Try it.

The potential problems I see with it are that it is not congruent to itself. It's an indirect opener asking about a direct open (how to pick up women). And like Blues Guy said, it shows that you are unclear about your pickup game. It also kind of makes a mockery of the idea of picking up women since you are asking the woman how to pick her up as your pick up line. This will either confuse the girl, or she'll think you are just trying to be funny/clever as you try to pick her up, and she'll blow you out.

Don't listen to the others, IT DOES WORK! I've already tried it but after you ask her how to approach a girl, she will give you her tips. USE those tips on her and she'll start to laugh (which is good!) and engage conversation.

From there, you're settled up! ;)

I quite like that. Although a fake time constraint needs to be used. Also, don't give her a choice. "Do you mind" is irrelevant. No need to say it.

It doesn't really matter what you say...but how you say it.


It also is important what type of person the one you say it so is.


Basically anything from "HI" right down to "Come have sex with me" can work as an opener , it just depends on the time / place / your ability to read people / way you speak.


There is no clear guideline here. What might miserably fail with girl X might strike gold with girl Y.

Went out last night. Tried several different approaches. With one I failed spectacularly because I mis-worded it. But the one that worked out the best for me and got me a number-close was "Do you think said actor is good looking?" I've no idea why it worked. But it worked with 2 different sets and sadly with the 2nd one which was on its way to good stuff, I opened it too late as it was time to leave.
