Post subject:  Always get stuck after the opener

The past few weekends I'd go to bars or clubs with my roommates and try some openers. I tried a "who lies more, men or women?" opinion opener and it got a group of girls engaged. I'd try my best to add sarcasm if I didn't like their answers. However after each girl gave her opinion I kinda froze and the girls started talking to each other and didn't acknowledge me (I guess that's called getting blown out?) I didn't know what to say so I usually just say nice talking to you guys in that situation. I was practicing opening anyway.

So my question is, what do you do after the opener? I know how develop comfort naturally sort of but I don't know how to fill the gap between opening and isolation/comfort building with a girl. It's one of my issues. I also don't know how to DHV and don't really have any interesting stories to tell. I'm not much of a story teller really. Any advice?

I liked your blog slugger. I learned quite a few things. What is the walk in the woods routine? The cube?

That is why opinion openers are hard to pull off. Im not a fan of opinion openers but generally the convention is to continue with a story. For example "who lies more, men or women?"...*gives answers*..."well a (fe/male) friend of mine always lies when...." (continue with something interesting).

But my advice is to try to stay away from opinion openers. I find it quite tacky, and women are not really engaging YOU but merely answering the question you presented, that is why they no longer acknowledge you once they finished answering. Opinion openers can work in some cases to break the ice, but in general, they are weak.
