I'm starting back up on Pick-Up this week, and I want to take a different approach to it then before. I always went out during the day to practice pickup, but my problem was that I've never used a natural opener on a girl, and it took me 30 minutes to an hour, just to build up the courage to approach a girl. I want to start off direct, get over my fear of rejection fast, and develop a healthy mindset for pickup. I don't want to go to direct or I'll start to stutter and make no sense right off the bat. I want to start off a little easy, for example, I was thinking about just saying, "Hey how's it going, I thought you looked friendly so I wanted to come say hi, I'm Nathan."(keep in mind I only go out during the day). I'm sure that's horrible, but if you can give me some advice on what kind of attitude I should take, or being able to make your openers personality based, That would help a lot. Thanks. |

Why would you think that is horrible? I have done very similar openers with great success. I would say, however, your problem is more inner game-related. You need more confidence. Confidence is basically the key to any opener succeeding. As long as YOU think it is good then it will work for YOU. The only real way to build up successful openers is through practice. I would suggest some of the challenges and exercises on the forum, such as the newbie mission where you have to go out and say hi to 100 random people before you start pickup. There is a purpose to all of this and it helps! Focus on confidence man and glad to see you trying! |

I'm relatively new to the art of pick up, I have always been pretty good with girls but only recently discovered this subculture and to be honest its very effective as long as you have the right mindset. What Don Juan said about saying hi to 100 people helps a load Just go for it, you will learn more about pick up when you approach those 100 people than if you trawled through the internet for a day. Another note to make is when i did that challenge i wasn't thinking about picking up the people i was talking to, I simply did it as a means of getting over AA, becoming comfortable in talking to strangers. Some off the people replied, some ignored me. Of those who replied some would be brief, and some i had actual conversations with. It didn't matter so much about the response i got, but more about how i noticed my attitude had changed by the time I got to 100. Quick note: A lot of people say this challenge as: 'go out and approach 100 women'. I took it as approach 100 people. My thoughts behind this were that even if I approach 100 women i might be comfortable opening women, but if they are with a man, or in a group with guys then i would still have been nervous. This applies to groups aswell, approach groups as well as single people and 2 sets. SOMETHING THAT HELPED ME A LOT This is something that i read on this website and subsequently started doing everytime i go out. This is looking in the mirror, or simply down at yourself and asking yourself if you look good. This is not in a vain way, i'm not saying, 'do i look better than other people?', but rather 'do i look as good as I can?' This gives me a lot more confidence. An example of this is that I always wear nice shoes and a watch if i go out. I'm pretty sure that 99% of the girls i approach don't notice them, but it gives me the confidence i need. Hope I helped. |

Fix your body language, add inner game, read body language, respond accordingly. |
