I need a bit of help getting back into the swing of things again with talking to women and being friendly and inviting. Problem is I jumped from a 1.5 year relationship to a 2.5 year relationship to another year long relationship in like rapid succession and now it's been damn near 5 years since I've had to really put myself out on the market again and find someone new.

I've done it before, I understand the indirect approach very well, being confident, body language, etc., but for some reason I've gotten to this wall that people call the "fear of approach". I see a girl I want to approach, my heart starts racing, then instead of just walking up and saying hi, I somehow crawl back into my shell and let the opportunity walk away. I've actually been approached by women more than I've approached women in the past month or so and that's sorta disgraceful to me. I'm confident in my ability to talk to women and once I get a foot in the door, my charisma takes over rather nicely, but that wall keeps hitting me every time a HB walks by.

I'm a college student, Mechanical engineering major (so I take the same set of classes with the same 75 people, we all know each other, it's 98% dudes and 2% FUGs).

Any tips on how to just overcome that "fear of approach" that I have?

Also, I prefer day game, and I'd like to get to work on direct openers because women seem to respond to them better. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

MY AA' solution was psychology(evolution).

you just realize whats going through their heads, and just dont give a flying fuck, because neither you nor them cant control that.

ps:if you open 1 set a day, even with an "hi",your AA will go away slowly...

Alright, I'm getting out of work on campus here in an hour, I'll stop by the library and just talk to a few girls before heading home for the evening. I watched a video about state shifting and working yourself up to the level of openly expressing your intent with women directly, and I feel like I'm already half way to that level, but I just need to be persistent with what I do. I'll test the waters and get back to you, but thank you for the quick response.

There was a thin crowd tonight. I walked up to a girl and opened directly. She responded positively, but then like 3 of her friends came over mid convo and dragged her away. She at least looked back, smiled, and waved while walking away. Outside of that, I didn't think there was enough people around really for me to be attempting to pick up any girls.

Also, there are usually plenty of HB's in the quiet rooms at the library doing work and what not. Is it ok to approach them in that environment? I have a very deep voice that carries an I don't want to disturb anyone

sometimes this can be threatening, but just politely ask to sit down, or ask if any one is sitting near her,

i have been in this scenario before and one tricked i used in the study group is started playing xs and os with her, i simply started the game and passed her the paper she giggle, and we continued

plus its adventerous, and yes that is very true to the last post, just act like you dont give a fuck :)

 i've got a funny one for the lib' :

Buy a bag of gummy worms and hide one in your hand the next time you target a
woman in a library while she reads a book. Walk up next to her, smile and say, “Can I see your book for a sec? Look at this, it’s a book worm.” Pretend to pull the gummy worm from her book and then humorously bite its head off.

also,if you're deliver the shit tight,no girl will say "i'm trying to read HERE!"

LOL,good luck bro'

I totally wanna try something similar to the gummy worm one. That was truly epic. The last couple HB's I hooked I passed em a note, but I like the playful openers as well.

maybe before you do cold approaching, try just hanging out at an event or a club at the college and just dress up and say hi to people who happen to be nearby. don't force a conversation, just smile and say hi. often, if you are well dressed and smell good and had your hair/nails trimmed, people will ask you questions and you might get a conversation. then they can tell you about where they hang out and you can go to the same places to meet people perhaps.
