So Im sitting in this room with all my doorm mates, and theres some hot ass italian chick sitting right infront of me, all of these people are just talking together, having a normal conversation, how do i join in on the conversation? |

if you're asking this, sounds like you need some practice going up to strangers and groups and opening. Usually I find a recent dramatic story that you want their opinion on is a great group opener. Perhaps something that 'just happened' to make it about you rather than them. Sometimes busting in and taking charge of the group is a great way to display dominance, and show you don't care too much what they think of you. The key is to listen to their responses and be playful! Feel free to point out how random and unusual the conversation is, handle bullshit tests by saying 'yeah who is this guy?' referring to yourself (ps never be defensive) then just continue and they should accept the frame you present and engage in the conversation hehe. |

Listen to what they are talking about and interject with an opinion, story, or comment. If one of the persons is making a point say "Yeah! I know what your talking about! Blah blah..." If one of the persons is telling a story or an experience, ask them a question about it. You have to naturally join in though. Don't try to force yourself into the conversation, you'll just come of as a try-hard. After they feel comfortable with you, start to steer the conversation. |

I would just walk up and talk. Don't worry too much about “interrupting.” If you do this, you are just going to go into analysis paralysis. Just walk up and start talking–they will yield to you if you do it with enough authority. |
