Post subject:  Identifying IOIs, figuring out when to open.

As with most people here I have read The game, its the reason I am here.
Ive taken away 2 things from the book when it comes to opening solo.
The first of which was to identify IOIs and the second was the 3 second rule.

After 1 successful night of opening I feel that I should be putting what ive learned into practise during the day.

Anyway today I sat down in a train opposite someone who looked roughly my age and straight away noticed a couple of subtle IOIs (at least I think I noticed). At this point however I had far broken the 3 second rule and decided opening would be awkward (not to mention I get AA when sober). She continued to give me what I thought were IOIs, Noticed me adjusting my dreads and laughed quietly, every once and a while looking in my direction and smiling.

In said situation I obviously lost my chance but I am curious to know peoples opinions on day opening and the 3 second rule. To what extent does it apply in this situation?

I've also read 'the game' book and tried the 3 second rule many times. Trust me man you should follow that rule because if you don't approach anxiety will over come you.try to count in your fingers then take a deep breath before approaching it works for me you should try it.

Hello!

The three second rule is great when you're starting out, but as you advance it becomes a useless tool. Once you have built up your confidence, the rule no longer applies!

With experience, you should be able to sit back, assess a set and get a great situational opener. A lot of this is down to practising reading body language etc.

Basically to sum up, don't always rely on the three second rule, it's NEVER too late to open, build your confidence and get out there.

Good luck good Game!

What he said. 3 second rule is good, its great to open fast, but if you are passed that don't let it stop you. You still can open without no worries.

Ps: if she was looking at you AND smiling you should have approached her even if you had AA..
