Me: Made you look :)
HB8: You suck. Hahah
Me:So what are you up to loser? :)
HB8: Just with some friends, and cross country again later. -.- what about you jerk?;P
Me: You know.. the norm, smoking with with the keebler elves ;)
Me: Wanna join?
HB8: Ahh gotcha, im doing that tomorrow... I would if I didnt have cross country haha :)
Me: Ahh that sucks, your missing out on a great time ;)
HB8: I bet :) haha
Me: My friends and I just took a vote, you lost 4-2
HB8: vote on what? haha
Me: I asked if they thought you were trouble, we think you are ;P
HB8: Pshh, me trouble?
Me: Yeah you seem to have that bad girl persona going for you :P
HB8: Haha what's that supposed to mean, I've never even met your friends? :P
HB8: Gotta go, practice is starting. Ill text you after :)
Me: Alrighty, have fun :)

(She pretty much saved me in the end with the going to practice, cuz I couldnt think of anything witty to say lol)

But yeah If I could get some criticization on like how I could have responded better, or what to say next time then I'd really appreciate it!)

A few things

1) "Wanna join." Why say this? Has she indicated interest yet?

2) I would strike the "Ahh that suck" just "You know you're missing out."

3) Why not - just "I hear you're trouble"

4) Just let the conversation drop. No "Alrighty, have fun" Ideally she would text you next. If not text her with something completely unrelated. Preferably a polite demand for her to do something she wouldn't be inclined to do.

I don't know your age or situation but something in the vein of: "Buy me beer" or "lend me your textbook."

Thanks, I really appreciate the response. Looks like I still have to work on my texting game, but I guess practice makes perfect.

Well, you can't always be the playful guy, you need to learn how to calibrate in the text game.

Frankly, I find it appalling how you guys behave differently when it comes to different modes of conversation and label them as "facebook game", "text game", "field game" and such.

You ARE the same person. Behave in the same way.

Slow down on the emoticons, you're using more emoticons than she is. Generally, it's the girl that should end up with more emoticons sent that the guy. I mean put yourself in her shoes, now imagine being this girl and seeing all an emoticon almost every text. The girl would probably think this guy is somewhat immature, or perhaps he that he is using emoticons in texts as a substitute for actual vocabulary.

I’ve been known to throw around a smiley or a sad face on occasion, usually to convey that I was teasing or making a joke. But when you overuse them like that it becomes meaningless or "cutsey wootsey" "girly".

think of emoticons like salt and pepper, what happens if you use a lot of salt and pepper on your food? that's right, it doesn't make the food taste great anymore.
