Ok, i have a theory i know 2 successful guys that start out a convo with something very basic. We're talking one liner... Like: "Hey just browsing and I saw your profile and wanted to say whats up" The theory here is that alot of girls want more than just a "hey" or "whats up", but at the same time you cant write a book the first email. I think women like guys who are reserved, esp online. You cant expect to kiss close or get laid for that matter off one online message. No girl wants a guy thats an easy catch, so if u just write something basic it shows your being friendly and your not all that into her. It builds attraction if she is interested in you for you looks. (first impression) try sending this message to 10 girls and remember how many first time messages write back. Also, has anyone ever put up a fake pof account with a really good looking fabio picture? Just wondering if girls r obsessed with good looks as much as guys |

Yeah I have a fake POF account with some random guy who I guess is good looking. And I get a lot looks and some messages. I found that if I message a girl, I really don't have to write anything special, even just "hi" can probably get a reply. But if I tried that with my own profile, probably not going to get a response. So yeah some girls will reply because they think a guy is good looking. |

You don't need a long message but the one you wrote...wouldn't work well for an average looking guy. The reason is, it's an average message. Make a fake girl profile on POF...and you'll get 100's of emails with that same message. If I've learned one thing from being in field versus reading about PUA...is one key thing my graphic arts teacher used to say, "contrast is everything." If you have tattoos all up your arm and spiked hair and gauged ears...try wearing a suit out. If you're an average looking guy...try acting/talking like someone who isn't average. These things make girls think "there's something different/more to this guy." The same is true online...I like having a dressy picture as well as an adventurous picture. I like looking like a wild/daring person...and then talking to her about how I want to be the Alladin to her Jasmin...(dorky...yes...does it work...yes). I haven't been posting much lately because I'm in a committed relationship now...but even still...contrast is everything. |

if one were to give the 3 things (pic, profile, message) values, then you can easily have more value in some things than others. when added together, any girl theoretically has a lower bound of total value that she will reply to a message. However value naturally creates expectations. For instance in some experiments I did a high value profile + avg pics + any old message practically guarantees a reply but creates expectations related to the nature of the profile. At that point you're under pressure to have congruence between subsequent messages and profile. Don't live up to the expectations you've caused and you're history fast! another possibility is avg profile + avg pics + high value message. In some ways this is the easiest to get going with as the expectations are created by the message and subsequent messages often follow a rough script. This strategy often falls foul of boiling frog syndrome. It's harder for them to follow the congruence/expectations in messages but at the same time the writer potentially slowly looses the edge they initially had. ie it goes wrong slowly. The funny thing about dating sites is that girls are most likely devoting their attention to guys with high value pics + avg profile writing avg messages. It would be interesting to discover how much time and energy girls are spending on those guys. |
