| Post subject: | Help With This Email Opener |
Cheers Friends. so this might be a more "Unique" situation my sister gave me a business card of someone she thought would be my type good match etc. on the business is card is just her picture and an email address, i know she teaches belly dancing. i don't want it to seem creepy that i'm email her out of the blue, but it's the only way to contact her, and i don't know if i should say my sister gave me your card, and if not if she ask me how i got her card then what? so i'm thinking something like I'm looking at your card at the moment and can't help but thinking you look so familiar, we didn't meet at *insert name of place* the other night?.. must have been your twin. i'm trying to find a way to be cocky and funny but give her a reason to reply back.. the more advice you could give i would be much obliged to you mates |

I would elaborate on that idea. It's a good opening to your message but you need to leave a reason for her to message you back. You need to pique her interest. E-mail is very informal and if she's never heard from you before you would want to make your message so impressionable that she gets excited to answer back. "Who is this guy? No one sends me e-mails like that, there must be something to him" I personally would make it playful and interesting. I'd probably come up with an elaborate story as to how I got her card, something obviously false. Then I'd follow up with "I'd love to share the real and much more interesting story of how I got your card when you message me back" or if there is some kind of common liaison, you could always just say over coffee instead. I've never e-mailed someone I didn't meet first, but hey, that's what I would do in your shoes. |

Indeed.. Much Obliged Mate.. i've been trying to think of a reason for her to want to email me back, especially since I'm "cold emailing" her. that's why i thought if i said did we meet at *insert place* then it gives something.. but i know it's not really that strong... Obliged Again |
