| Post subject: | The About me section in online profiles |
I was reading a thread on here and thought I'd post a thought for all of you having questions about making your profiles more interesting. We're all guys here and if up to us we'd probably only put just the facts in our profiles. We are guys. We simple and brief. When interacting with other guys, we can get away with this. The problem is we are trying to interact with women. Even with a perfect profile, maybe only 1/2 of the women you write will do anything more than decide based on your default pic. What I'm going to talk about is creating interest from the ones that do look. A number of years ago the tv channel VH1 used to have a show called "Behind the Music". I don't how many of you are familiar with it. The thing about it was this. They could take any band in the world no matter how good or bad and make their story seem interesting. It takes more than facts to do this. Imagine if you had to write an obituary for a dear friend. You wouldn't state just the facts. You would tell stories and show their passion for life and such. In your profile you want to show just this. Let's say you like nature and dogs. If you just put nature and dogs, it's boring. You'd be better off saying something like the following. "I live to take my dog Harley for walks down by the shore. Normally I take a sandwich with me and sit under this one old palmetto tree. When Harley isn't chasing the ducks, he can be found sharing what's left of my sandwich with me." You want to show that there is an experience for anyone that gets to know you. Your words are the little peek/teaser into the whole experience. You know your life and your likes are. If you are a clutz, don't be scared to incorporate that. It's not bad to show your humanity. Even alphas stub their toes. |

That makes sense. I think, girls being more emotional creatures feel or perhaps imagine the emotions in stories. Pure fact does little for them. It always seemed to me that people are inclined to write profiles in ways that would appeal to themselves rather than the opposite sex. |

It's like writing an auto biography as opposed to an obituary. |
