Post subject:  Creating facebook/myspace profile from the ground

Here's my issue: I created a myspace profile back in highschool back when I was a loser who had no hobbies or goals in life. It was basically a joke page and had about 8 friends. It lasted maybe a week before I stopped using it.

I'm more interested in doing facebook as it's geared towards college kids and I'm going to college soon. I've got my life plan pretty much structured now and am setting myself up for success later in life. However, right now I know hardly anyone. I barely had any friends/acquaintances in high school and I know a few at work who probably have facebook accounts. I feel that when I go to college this will be a good way to connect with people, but I don't want to only have like 20 friends and be looked upon negatively in that regard.

Also I'm figuring to be pretty busy this summer. Should I just wait until later to make one as I probably will hardly be using it if I did make it now. Should I just add random chicks to make myself look better off than I am or is that bad?? I'm all new to this and it's dealing with people I know in real life so hopefully yall can understand me being afraid of presenting myself like a chump.

Make one and start friending everyone you have ever known. Most of the time people will accept. If this doesn't work out, just keep it on hold and when you get to college, meet a bunch of people and tell them that you just started using facebook. Things will work quickly.

Adding lots of random people will get your page filled up with dozens of "do I know you?"

Not. Cool.

Don't do it, stick to people you know - or if you really wanna stretch it, people you know of.
And you'd be surprised, if you get connected to the right network (ie, your high school) you'll see a list of all of the people in your year from highschool, of which you could add.

Thanks for the advice. I'll probably wait until I go to college then.

as soon as you get your college email, usually the summer before your first semester, join your colleges network and start adding all the other new freshman even if you dont know them. Everyone is new and everyone will be adding everyone and its an easy way to meet girls and make friends.

Usually people will create groups like "class of 2014" and shit like that. Join them too as they will be loaded all with new freshman who are just looking to meet new people and they will usually post up about house/dorm parties they are having that are open to everyone.
