Hi, I'm working on opening and carrying a conversation online. I find that online is a great way to also train for real-life game, as it gives me a lot of time to understand and micro-analyze these conversations. I'm brand new at PUA but I've been starting to go from about a 5% response rate to literally an 80% response rate just by reading/understanding how to open so this forum has been really helpful.

I messaged this HB8.5 the other day over OKC. She's cute and seems smart and interesting and she replied within 3 minutes lol, so here's the convo:

Me: I'm going to be honest, the pet frogs and naughty cartoons (I used to draw those in highschool) are awkward topics for discussion, but I was taken aback by your use of the word "mercurial" since you mention dictionary. com. You realize mercurial has a somewhat negative connotation, I hope. Plus, you don't really seem mercurial. Like.. at all.. Her: Nobody's perfect, darling. Whether I'm volatile and erratic or animated and quick-witted is not something I would hide either way. *wink* However, I must disclose my surprise that a man who claims to be tactful's first words are to inform me my beloved pets and beloved hobby are awkward topics and insult my intelligence! If you wish to have a non-awkward conversation with me, I'm sure you can think of something~
OK, I have a couple of questions. Again, I'm very new/inexperienced so please bear with me :)

Is her telling me "I can think of something" a shit test? Like she'd expect me to try to validate myself? How would I turn that around?

Also, is her calling me "darling" an IOI or just a sarcastic bitch-shield (I guess it would be an IOI since she also *winks*)? Just curious as how I should approach these kinds of situations. Thanks!

She's being sarcy, I'd take that as a sarcy IOI, be positive.

Let her know, you can think of a lot of things, neg her, let her know your intelligent again (i would).

As far as your beloved pets go, I think I'd prefer rodents over amphibians. Shows you have a brain, like your sarcy side, keep it up, she will reply within 10 mins if she is online.

I find when you tell a girl you bite, it's like a challenge for them, so nice one with that.

Thanks man, it means a lot to me to know that I'm improving.. even so slightly :p

I don't think she's been online today (yet), but I'm curious what will happen :)

Okay well it's been a week+ with no reply. I don't really care but just out of curiosity in online game: are you supposed to be persistent or just forget it. should I send another message or just forget it? I just need to know this as a rule of thumb, thanks!

Sorry I'm a bit late on this topic...but for what its worth.

That 'wink' thing was a clear IOI.

I would have responded to her message asking her to talk about things off-line...i.e. a date...by saying:

"Hey, you seem cool, lets take this discussion off-line over coffee..."

And leave it at that. There is a 80% chance she will bite on this as it will totally throw her off but at the same time if she was shit-testing you, she would have seen that you are much bolder than she thought..bonus points...

The thing about online sarging, just like in the real world, you need to seal the deal ASAP...otherwise they lose interest in you.

Awesome thanks for the advice, I sure as hell know what to do next time ;)

I haven't had time to do much online stuff lately as I think my real-life game is much more important and needs to improve drastically!
