Post subject:  stuck on this shit test? She's a clever one.

Basically, the past 2 days I've been gaming a HB 8 through facebook. I met her briefly 2 years ago and we go to the same university. Recently she had her status saying she slipped and fell down while running.

I PM'ed her on face book saying in response to her status

Me: "I thought I saw you bust your ass earlier...looks like it hurt. That's why I run at the track : ). (Didn't actually see her).

Her: "lol, where did you think you saw me bust my ass?"

Me: " Yesterday morning while along such and such street on my way to campus, at least she looked a lot like you" (educated guess since I know of a slippery road that I see lots of chicks run on early in the morning. My original plan was for me to guess wrong and take it from there that she's covering it up ect.)

Her: "haha lol yeah that was most likely me in that case..the epitomy of grace."

Me: "lol I've had my share of wipe outs many of which pale in comparison. However I don't think I've failed quite that bad while just running either. Anyway..I'm planning on organizing another hike once it gets warmer out and already have a few recruits. Since it's hard to fail at that...I think, your welcome to join (similar to the one I met her on).

P.S. "epitomy" is spelled epitome :)

Her: I attribute my fall to the fact that my right foot skidded on some slick gravel (left over from the stuff used to clear the roads of ice). I do not consider it a failure at running, especially since things such as this happen routinely to people running 8+ miles a day. Though I certainly admit that is is unfortunate.

I do not only attempt things that are hard to fail at. There is no sense of accomplishment there.

P.S. "your" is used incorrectly. The correct usage would be that of the contraction "you're" :)

How do I respond to that?

So far so good but she didn't acknowledge my invite, but she surely seems to be trying to qualify herself.

Any suggestions?

You're highy over thinking this one. Shes not shit testing you, shes teasing you. Keep talking to her, escelate a bit and invite her out again.

That looked to me like her acknowledging your invite.

looks to me like you put her on the defensive. Hard to tell without hearing her tone but that's what the words suggest to me. So while she is in fact qualifying herself, it doesn't seem to be in a playful way that yoou would want normally.

It also seems like she might have actually shot down your invitation because your coddling her and she didn't like it.

The P.S. part seems somewhat playful but if i'm right about what i said above then it's more likely her being happy that she might have passed your shit test and it's kind of like "ha, beat that one, what else you think you got?"

It's always possible I'm reading it wrong for some reason though. I would take a second look at it after reading our comments on it and decide for yourself.

Also, I only took a min to analyze it fyi.

"Coddling her" ? so you think I'm being too soft?

Keep in mind I still haven't replied back, not sure what to say and may just leave it for a bit.

maybe coddling was the wrong word. What i was trying to convey is that she may think you're treating her like a baby by inviting her to an easy hike just because she fell.

As i read my post something seems off about it but it's fucking 1 am here so i'll rethink it later.

Keep in mind that I know you'er trying to be playful but it's possible she didn't read it as playful. it's hard to convey these things through text.

Example. I ca't remember the exact words of the conversation but a couple years ago I was flirting with a girl or at least I thought I was. I sent her a text that I thought I was being playful with. It completely pissed her offf and shutdown that relationship.

I rexamined it later and saw what she saw even though it's not what I meant. Best to be a little more careful with text than you would with audio involved.

if flirting/attraction is a game whereby winning pushes ones opponent into submitting to their attraction and individual plays create attraction then your attempt to DHV by picking up her spelling, has been one-upped by her doing the same back to you and in fact she's gained the upper hand because you're stumped at how to respond. Perhaps a mistake on your part because you've caused a sub-battle of intellect in p.s. with a girl cleverer than you. The only way to top that is to do something completely unexpected with it.
Lateral thinking required here. Clever witty self-depreciation might work. utilizing the word "contraction"? Although I'm at a loss to come up with something more concrete.

Yeah that's a good one but it's too late for that now.

I still haven't responded because it's been almost a week and I think responding this late would be a big turn off since she'd think it took me this long to figure out a response.

Should I just leave it be and start something new with her in a week or two or should I still respond?

I would say by sending her an invite that early in the conversation you showed her you were interested way too early.

Mystery himself said it best when he said he believes the reason most guys fail is because they show interest way too early.

However, she's showing some slight interest and you still have her in the conversation and plus you've known this girl for some time now.

Try inviting her in-directly. You couldn't give a rats ass if she showed up or not.

It may turn in your favor but I think you openly invited her too early.
