''Thanks for the add. You're gorgeous, but you can't find the right boyfriend? That's weird. Are you retarded in any way? Or are you really a man? :O Is that why it says 'gay' on the sexual orientation part? Oh dear... '' I sent this to a girl yesterday, and she was fucking gorgeous (about a HB9 for all you guys that like to rate girls). She added me on myspace. I wrote this because in her interests part she had written: ''to get the right boyfriend :/'' and then in her sexual orientation part it said she was gay. It was supposed to be funny, and I thought it would be at the time, but now I read it again I can see why she reacted badly...But she did react, so I think if I respond well I can recover. She wrote back saying ''what the fuck are you on about? You can tell Im obviously a girl, there was no need to call me retarded, and it just says gay because I never changed it.'' Now my response I've come up with so far is: ''The comment was meant as a joke, I didn't mean for it to be insulting. After reading it again I can see why you reacted like that, it wasn't even that funny tbh. I'm sorry. '' I think negging any more or giving a cocky funny comment will fuck it all up, and to be fair it wasnt funny. So I've apologised. Now I wanna continue talking to her, but I don't know what to add to my message to start a new conversation. Any ideas guys? I need to reply back soon. |

I dont know how everybody else does it but my theory is if she replies back, there is always a chance with her. and by reading your 1st post. to me, it seems as if she thought it was mean but she was still qualifying herself to you. cause in the first place she didnt even have to reply. just delete |

Yeah you were pretty harsh but I still wouldn't apologize, at least not in a truly sincere way, with as much explanation as you listed up there. Maybe no more wordy than "sorry babe, I was just joking" Online is hard because it's easy to forget to convey a playful tone and a smile. I tend to throw in ";)" and "jk" here and there to make my tone clear. And as a rule, I try not to use the word "retarded" at all unless she uses it first. You never know if somebody's going to have a close relative who's mentally disabled or something. |

Hey people it don't matter now, I responded with: ''The comment was meant as a joke. Sorry if you didn't find it funny, I didn't mean to offend you...So what's the story in balamory?  ''She's responded with a pretty big message, she seems happy. Just shows that if you're wrong and you offend someone it's ok to apologise, and as long as you don't kiss ass it's not a sign of weakness. |

Yeah true, if it was real life I'd leave her alone, but that's the problem with online game. I could get away with this in real life and she'd be able to tell by how I said it that I was just joking, whereas online she can't see or hear me say it so she might see it as an actual insult. |
