So I've had no success on POF at all so far. I'm hoping someone can look over my profile and tell me if it sucks or I'm gross looking or something else is wrong: http://www.plentyoffish.com/member12865523.htm I'm also wondering if I'm sending out the right things. Here's the last message I sent: "Hey! I just had to say that you're absolutely adorable, but you probably already knew that. Looks aren't everything for me though. What is it that sets you apart?" Most of what I send out is similar to that. Sometimes I'll mention a tidbit from their profile in my message, I just couldn't find anything to grab onto for this particular girl. |

for real u need work on your hair, and your eyebrows mate. You can always look at other males in your area or other areas that have seemingly popular profiles. I dunno copy their whole thing even their picture hah. Just experiment, you have no smarts that looks bad loL? Say you went to college or something it really doesn't matter what you put. |

Incongruence undermines/kills your chances depending on what sort of girls you're messaging. For instance you don't look/sound like "trouble" and since you mentioned nerdy, you look really nerdy! and then you've mentioned videogames compounding nerdiness. saying you don't want children at your age probably rules out a huge portion of similarly aged women who have hopes of that kind of thing, even if you have no intention of going there! |

I'm horrible at writing headlines. Could anyone suggest a better one for my profile? |

OK so heres your intro ... Quote: Hi,my name's Devyn and I just moved here from Boston. I'm just looking to have some fun in this sick city. I play poker for a living and it's a true passion of mine. A competitive person by nature, making a living off of a game is a dream come true. I can be serious but I'm not afraid to be nerdy and goofy. I'm adventurous and prone to boredom so I'm constantly seeking out new experiences. I often act spontaneously, but I also like to have a solid plan. I'm controlled and cultivated, but command attention. I'm definitely one of a kind.
Your right it does suck "Hi, my name is xxxxx" is the lamest possible way to start a profile. The phrase "I'm just looking to have some fun" will immediately trigger their slut defences because chicks interpret "fun" as "sex" when they see it in online profiles. I would not say outright what your "job" is as it sounds risky but rather say that you do something you love and that tests your abilities to the limit etc etc. Do not use words like "nerdy" and "goofy" NO NO NO you have a "cool" and "quirky" nature blah blah. From "I'm adventurous .." onwards its pretty good I think and the last scentence works very well. Trouble is most chicks will have stopped reading long before they get that far. (s) |

Totally AFC wussy whatever. Never physically compliment in the first message, but rather try to make reference to something in her profile, perhaps make it funny.(s) |

Don't bother changing your looks. Women can't tell an attractive guy from an average one unless the media tells her to. That's not a dis, women just aren't that into appearances. If you change the way you look, only do it to make yourself more attractive to yourself to boost your confidence. Your second picture is awkward, trash it. First picture is okay, but it conveys zero personality, despite interesting shirt and background. You say you're adventurous, but your pictures don't reflect someone who trampolines off rooftops and climbs mountains. I agree, your profile doesn't sound congruent. A picture of you playing poker would be a good idea. So. New pictures that show your personality and interests (not just a pose), and redo your entire profile. It sounds like you're exaggerating about yourself to fit what you think a girl would want. Even a guy that lives out of his car can sound totally date worthy with the right PR and doesn't need lies. The what you're looking for section is weird, you start out describing a girl, then you start describing what she wants. Get out of her head, this is about you. Peace, bro. You got everything you need right now, work it. And lose the Neil Strauss "looks aren't everything" BS, it's pretty tired and every girl with a good picture has gotten it already. |

Quote: Women can't tell an attractive guy from an average one unless the media tells her to. The media does play a part, but its not 100% as you seem to think. Quote: That's not a dis, women just aren't that into appearances. When it comes to online game they tend to be more into looks than in real world game. As the first thing they will look at is the pictures. And if you have a bad picture you are going to look bad physically and she will be less attracted to you. Quote: And lose the Neil Strauss "looks aren't everything" BS, it's pretty tired and every girl with a good picture has gotten it already. I doubt it. But saying that I never like using pre made up lines from known PUA's. If I use them I always change them up into something different and more unique.

Do you really think on POF looks aren't everything. The site tells you flat out that 90 something person of the women click on the profile before even reading an email and people with photos get more responces then people without. What that tells me is women are just as shallow as men are. I flat out believe it too. I average one email from a HB4 to HB7 a week on POF and word for word this is what my profile says. "I was a member of this site a while ago and took some time off. I know what it is I want in a woman but it will take some time to put it into words. I promise I will write more later." Take a look. http://www.plentyoffish.com/member14684562.htm |

Meh, I say don't worry about being nerdy dude, just be sincere. I'd say you could use some more and better and more varied pictures though, not two pics in the same shirt in front of what looks like a giant playground, lol. And if it's possible, try to psych yourself up so you're genuinely happy when you smile for the camera. It took me a while to accidentally do that but once I did I realized all my smiles in the other photos looked like crap compared to when I really do smile, even despite my crooked teeth, haha Good luck bro. |

Yeah, I've met 6 girls in the last 2 months I wouldn't have met otherwise. That's not a waste. Yeah, people respond to profiles with pictures because profiles without pictures seem like the person is hiding something; obviously they want to talk to a person. Does it say women are more likely to respond to pictures of handsome guys, no, it doesn't. Plus, depending on where they are in their cycle, women will like more effeminate or masculine guys. And I think women realize more than anyone that pictures can lie so they don't put as much stock into it. It's not worth getting hung up on. |
