I've been experimenting recently with some very simple direct openers and having pretty good success.

subject: hey

body: i came across your page and thought you were adorable, so i had to say hi. you should say hi back, i'm pretty charming.

its worked almost every time for me. they're not extremely hooked and attracted off the bat like that AJ stuff, but they always at least respond and then once you've got your foot in the door you can steer the conversation wherever you want it to go and attract them easily, of course.

Y'know, this one has real application in the real world. Seems very good for a real world cold opening. lol

yeah, i think some community guys use similar openings for day game cold approach.

as far as using it on myspace, i recognize it's not ideal. obviously, it's pretty boring and doesn't create any kind of attraction. it was only a brief experiment for me and i was very surprised how well it worked.

last thing that worked for me was something along the lines of (don't have the original saved, only her answer)
"think i met you once at {club i used to go to and knew she did too}"

it's congruent and we had mutual friends and the fact is people can't remember every person they've ever met or technically haven't heh. a foot in the door is a foot in the door and it doesn't really matter how simplistic it is.
