| Post subject: | Progressing From Professional to Personal |
Hey guys, I met a girl through work and we seemed to click pretty well. There was a post-work function and we ended up spending most of the night just chatting and drinking. At the end I probably should have k-closed her, but I still felt we were kind of working on a professional level. There were definite IOIs and that, but how do you know when to push it? I really don't want to fuck this up as it's work-related. Anyway, because it started professionally I already have her e-mail and phone number. She text me the next day and I have since e-mailed her, but I want to make sure it's clear I don't want to just be friends. How do I progress to the next level, meet up outside work and make it clear that I'm into her without risking my professional reputation? The whole e-mail thing for me I find hard as I never know what to write. I've started by getting away from work from the off - so much so that it is basically just a personal e-mail. She replied pretty quick and I then ignored her for a day. I need to write her today, but what's my next step? Any advice would be welcomed! SCQ |

Here's the deal... If you are in a higher position than she is, those IOI's that you mentioned might in fact just be her being nice to the boss... ya know... As for her replying to the email you sent her, if you would have posted the contents of that email, then we might be able to give you a more detailed post about whether she is "genuinely" interested in you as a "person" or if it is strictly on a professional level. I always make it a point to point out to a girl that I like, whom I work with, that I don't dip my pen in the company ink. If she wants to date me, then she has to quit working with me. This gets the conversation going towards the whole "dating" conversation. On your situation ... you might want to tell this girl that you have to quit your job ... if she asks you why ... just tell her that you want to take her out but you don't like dating someone with whom you work with. Or you can add your own twist to it. Good luck. |
