Based on my experience with online game it worked because it's orginal, and humorous. You conveyed a fun personality in that short line, and it worked! Congrats! :D

most ppl are too smart for statements that start out trying to diffuse your real intentions.... like you cant say "im not trying to make you mad but...."
or "im not trying to make you tell you what to do but...."
it just comes across as I AM trying to make you mad or I AM trying to tell you what to do....
so when you say im NOT trying to pick you up what youre really coming across as saying is I AM trying to pick you up.

That was kinda what was goin for, a mixed sorta reaction, seemed stale, w/ out some sort of SOI.

Here whats happens so far, didnt go terrible, not sure where to go from here tho. Not a good opener, on 1st random attempt

What can I say I found the conservation funny. I doubt you could have done anything differently really. You certainly got the girl thinking "who is this guy" and more than likely you are standing out in her mind due to your conservation with her. You may or may not have her interest in you. But I am sure she will look forward to chatting with you and building that interest/attraction will most probably come easier to do with that conversation. The only thing I would have change was this line:

She knows its an opener so why say it? Its like saying to a girl "I approach you because I thought you where attractive". The girl knows if she was not attractive then you would not have approached her.

You conveyed your interest waaaay too early, and discredited what you said by saying 'it's only an opener'.

Basically, she shit test you saying, 'it's lame'
and folded and said, 'yeah its lame'.

But good opener, it could work. Test it some more, and feel free to post on here if you get stuck, if you pm me and tell me the thread title I'll be more than happy to write you a template reply.
