I always like to have a travel picture in there too. Don't say where it is, or what you're doing, 'cos you want to leave room for them to ask. On dating sites like POF I would avoid putting up a picture with a female friend if it is just the two of you in the picture. As that will send up red flags to the girl when she reads your profile.

To add to what was already said, the wording and words/phrases used in your profile are key. A lot of people use the same words/phrases and wordings in their profile. Just look at how many people use such phrases as "down to earth" or "laid back". Find a creative way to say the same thing or another word to use. For example instead of saying "down to earth" say your practical.
