So, I'm new to online dating again. Last time I tried it was 6-7 years ago when smart phones/texting was not as prevalent. My question is: After I get a number from the messaging via the date site. Do you guys typically send a txt first to the woman so she has your number as well? Say, a simple: "Hey, It's x from PoF/Match what's a good time to call?" That day, a day later, etc... Reason I ask is because I still have a NY number and the women down here (Atlanta) will likely ignore an out of state number if I call and they don't know who it is first. Not sure if it matters but, most of these women are early to mid thirties. Just curious on opinions on this is all... My initial call is just going to be a 15 minute feeler to see what she is like and setup a date. It's just that it usually goes to voice mail and I think it has to do with them seeing an out of state number. lol If I've already met them out (bar, restaurant, store, etc...) and got their number...I will usually txt them after 5 minutes or so of walking away with something like "Hey, who was that handsome guy you were chatting up?! -MyName" |

this is my first text message to the girl "hey its Drew (Username) from Tinder- how is your friday ?" i say my name so they have it right away and it isnt weird to ask me later on i say my username in parentheses so she can just look it up on her account to make sure who it is i ask a general question anyone can answer to to keep the conversation going works so well- i never really call them unless i'm looking for them at the meetup location |

I like it. |

Well, I want to call to see what they are like and setup a date/meetup. I think a 10 minute call is worth about 100 texts/site messages. Just my preference is all. I just know myself that when I see a number come up that is out of state or don't know I dump them to voice mail and call back unless I'm bored/not busy. I have a feeling women these days will do the same if they don't know who is calling. I think I'm just going to text each of them: "Hey, It's Patrix from plenty of fish - when is a good time to call ?" This way they have my number and I can plan when to call. I typically only make the first call at most 15 minutes to BS for about 5 to try to get interest level up, find out what she is close to, then plan date/time. I will usually bring up that I have to do something and end the call (try to end it on a high note with a laugh). |

I don't know why you wouldn't just call, if that's your plan.... Why ask when a good time to call is? If it's not a good time she won't answer, or she'll tell you and you can call back. |

Last 3 I have called without sending a text I get dumped to their voice mail. I leave a msg and then about 30min - 1hour later I get a txt from them saying "I didn't know who was calling so, I just sent it to voice mail" or something similiar...Why ask when a good time to call is? If it's not a good time she won't answer, or she'll tell you and you can call back. I don't like having to leave a message is all and would rather them know it's me calling....When I leave a voice mail I typically just keep it short with "Hey, <her name> its Patrix from PoF. Just calling to chat and see what your schedule is like next week" Just trying to see what others typically do. I think the out of state number is killing it is all... |
