Hey, new here. Have an interesting little chat thing here from a chick I met on facebook. We have a few mutual friends but I've never met her before. Kind of rediculous in the beginning, but she responds and qualifies herself. Maybe I should have asked for the number earlier. I'm thinking of leaving it alone at this point - I've done most of what I can. I can't tell if she's attracted to me or she's just afraid of the unknown (hanging out with some "random dude"). I know I've been persistant (she responds to me), but will not make time to hang out with me. I'm pretty much over it but for the sake of getting a lesson and feedback, I put it up here for your criticisms. Thanks. I sent her a message and it went like this: tuna_casserole : hey, I think you're kinda fine. We need to hang out. come eat ice cream with me while I punch dolphins. this is not a joke. no response. So the next day... tuna_casserole 2:26pm : That was a bit forward, I know. But is it wrong...to want to eat ice cream...and punch dolphins in the nose? I don't really know you, yet I am still checking to see the reach of your wit or humor by being absurd as possible in my advances towards you. If this amuses you than cool, but if not I can't feel bad cause I've done dumber shit. Her 2:29pm: It made me laugh, but definitely didn't make me want to hang out with you.. Hah tuna_casserole 2:34pm: Oh that's cool. There's still time for that. So tell me the most awesome thing youve done in the past week? Her 2:37pm : I can't think of anything... Which is horrible because everyone should do something incredibly awesome at least once a week. By the way, I think punching a dolphin sounds really mean and you should never do that. tuna_casserole 2:41pm: Dolphins are like the smartest creatures on earth aside from primates. They're gonna catch up. Do you really want to see what a few more thousand years of evolution will do to them? This is a survival thing. Do you want to see walking dolphins? Talking dolphins? So tell me something interesting about yourself so i can feel better about talking to you. I'm kind of interested. Her 2:56pm: I'm an artist but I work way too much and have been too tired to find motivation. tuna_casserole 2:56pm: whats your medium? tuna_casserole 3:03pm: ...? Ok, I'm gonna jump in here and fill in the blanks myself. you paint pictures of fruit. I gotta go soon, but I would like to show you something I painted that I'm sort of proud of, only because you say you're an "artist" (of what, I don't actually know). I feel "artists" should inspire and motivate eachother. ttyl. Her 3:18pm: I paint with acrylics however I've done some pretty good ceramic pieces too tuna_casserole 4:13pm: I'm back. for a bit that's pretty cool *girls name*. I like people who create things. Do you have any pictures of your stuff uploaded online? (she took a little bit to respond, so I said this) nah, you probably don't know how to use a camera. Her 4:19pm: ?? Her 7:01pm: Aha tuna_casserole 7:04pm: You see it now? tuna_casserole 7:11pm: (I like the way you blend your colors, like on the X piece. More so, I the overall concepts of a couple pieces were interesting to me, particularly the Z one and sort of the Y one (of which the shades of purple thing was cool). I think your A one was pretty prime too. tuna_casserole 7:38pm: The wierdness of that X piece kind of reminds me of the stuff I used to do back in the day. I have a whole folder of it but Im kind of sketched out about putting it online cause its so wierd. Maybe I should show you sometime so you can tell me if they're too wierd or not. I have a few friends like that, and sometimes have that side of me. I bet it takes you a while to warm up to someone, but sometimes if you meet someone you're into it kind of clicks. Patty's day parties Im gonna go to and as wierd as this sounds I think I kind want you to come around so we can get past this "i met you on the internet" silly thing. You can bring your friends too. I thought I'd bring that up as some last ditch effort to get this chick off facebook and into my bed. ONE WEEK LATER. tuna_casserole 1:20pm: So I was hanging out of town with X and Z the other night. I remember X mentioning you once a while ago. Did you used to live by x? Her 1:20pm: No, but I used to hang out with all those guys in high school tuna_casserole 1:22pm: Yeah, I hung out with all those guys in high school. My homies...awesome times. Her 1:22pm: They're cool dudes tuna_casserole 1:22pm: Hell yea. I'm suprised we haven't met before, unless we have and I don't remember. haha. Her 2:34pm: I don't remember but we probably have tuna_casserole 2:54pm: Word. We should just hang out sometime. We both probably know eachother already and we have the same friends. I think I lost some steam after I complimented her art and in trying to build some comfort/rapport maybe asked her too many questions. If I would have stopped being as rediculous in the beginning, maybe focused on some comfort and then gone for the number a little earlier it might have worked out. Maybe I was right to ping her at random, but should have layed off with the questions. Who knows. Fuck it. |

TLDR. Cut out the fat of the convo and just post what's bugging you most. Though from what I read in the beginning, you seem to be investing a little too much into the convo, i.e. saying more stuff than she is. I thought some of your messages were funny, but if your messages are generally longer than yours, it's going to come off try hard. |

Yeah, I definately thought that the message length on my part would have made her come to that conclusion. I think a lot of the excess content of my chat comes from asking her about herself, which is usually done under the assumption on my part that she will respond. There isn't always a response, which of course looks bad. It's most likely the case that the offset of my investment towards the beginning may have cemented the current dynamic in her mind at a point - I do go back to that point in my mind as a time when I would have connected in a core-value kinda way and then tapered off a bit. Basically the issue is that she won't hang out with me. Posting the entirety of the conversation allows you to see the different times I brought it up, and the overall context of the interaction if you're ever bored enough to actually read all of it. |
