| Post subject: | FB: Accepted others but gave me the 'do i know you' |
Well, I added this girl on Facebook today and rather than getting accepted I got the 'do I know you?' inbox. We both live in Dubai and she goes to a school closely tied to my school. Personally, I've never met her but we have quite a few friends in common and I thought I'd just randomly add her and game her after. What's strange is that she accepted my friends whom (i think) she has never met before but gave me this! I figured she might just be starting a conversation and see if I can get myself out of this sh!t test but then she probably would accept me first, which she didn't. Can anyone help me with what I could reply? Don't want to just leave it or be cocky as we have mutual friends and it could not play out well for me. Then again, I don't also want to get friendzoned/ruin my chances with her. Any help would be appreciated! |

Dude, random guys add hot girls on Facebook ALL the time. You really can't assume any interest because she sent you a message. She may want to legit know if she knows you or not cause she doesn't want random guys looking through her shit and posting obscene comments on her pictures. Facebook isn't a dating website. Don't treat it like one. It creeps girls out. I don't know her caliber... But some of the girls who are friends with me on Facebook will post a status saying "FUCK GUYS! I'M GOING LESBIAN!" and have 7 guys ask her out in the comments alone. I figured she might just be starting a conversation and see if I can get myself out of this sh!t test but then she probably would accept me first, which she didn't. Not avoiding or eliminating any. And I hope your profile pic isn't a picture of you in the mirror with your shirt off or a picture of your car.... You might as well stop there if that's the case lol |

Make a joke out of it. Say "no, you don't know me, but i'm not a stalker, I promise lol... I saw you on xyz group, and thought you seemed cool. I'm only say hello, I'm not being threatening lol.." This disarms the situation, and shows you're not ruffled by her question. It also puts her at ease, since she may think you're genuine. That's why I included the part about the group, since the compliment will get in her good books. |

Disagree. This is why i only stick to learning from most of the sticky topics to find my answers. This is why i think this is wrong: 1: it is a basic rule that you do not mention negative words such as "stalker" or "Threatening". Even though you have but "i am not" in front of it, still makes those words pass through her mind. You want to avoid say these types of things at all costs. 2: This sentances shouts justification and desperation. Im not a stalker, im not being threatening, im only saying hello. Thats 3 times you're trying to defend yourself and seem like a nice guy. My personal way of doing things (you can try this but i recommend finding what works best for you) is bantering with them. For example, "i had to add you, i couldn't let you carry on with picture on your profile...etc..." Instantly puts them on justifying mode rather than you Regards, Boyo |

Boyo is totally on point. Joking about how you aren't a stalker, etc, isn't necessary. It just seems creepy. Be assertive, even online. |

Fuggit. Just say you are a stalker that just got out of prison. You'll do better than saying you are not a stalker. |
