After I went through a nasty break-up mid-December, I hit online game again, and i hit it hard (dealing with personal issues that currently make it difficult to do real game). Since then, I've probably pulled close to 2 dozen numbers at least, and I've only met up with less than 5 girls... Many of them started out obviously attracted to me, some even sexted me or sent me sexy photos of themselves, but for some reason they nearly *always * flaked on dates and eventually the dreaded longer-intervals-between-responses started happening until they stopped responding all together. Frustrating as all fucking hell, to say the least. Last night I called up a hot 33 year-old interior designer I met off of PoF. When she gave me her number, I was about to text her a call-back opener when I stopped, thought "Fuck this shit" and, instead texted her "hey it's RedBaron. saving you in my addy book, was nice talking to you. call you soon." I didn't even give a reason. (credit for this text-to-phone transition goes to GoodLookingLoser.com) So we set up a time to talk, I called her, and we had a great 20 min convo where we learned a lot about each other and I had her laughing most of the time with stupid little jokes. Before I even asked her out, she suggested we go out to a karoake bar sometime (she's a voice teacher and we were talking about how I'm learning to sing). We agreed to talk again next week to set up a date since this weekend is full for both of us, and we hung up. At the end, the vibe of the convo was immensely positive and not only was I looking forward to meeting her, it was pretty clear from the conversation she was eager to meet me too. This is the first girl I've actually made an effort to call instead of text, so I'll update this thread as I go. So to all the guys here who are having issues building comfort/attraction or setting up dates through text, try getting her on the phone instead. And never mind that hearing your voice will get her more comfortable with you and enables you to build a better connection than through text... it seems you can get several days' worth of texting done in the space of 15 or 20 minutes. Give it a shot, let us know how it goes. |

Agreed. All you need is a mere 10 minutes of comfort and flirting, then you're set. They also will be less flaky when you set a date on the phone or less likely to reject. The way I do it is I text girls that I just met, after a few rounds of teasing and sexual escalating through text, I'd call to flirt and set a date or phone sex if I see fit. I call most of number closes that I got in person. I only use texting to a quick time bridge in between or mass inviting dozen of them all the same thing or with girls that I number close online (because calling right off the bat sometimes intimidating for online dating so I like to warm them up first) |

One thing im not sure how to deal with is if they dont pick up for whatever reason. Do you leave a voicemail or a short text? So far I just dont do anything after that, doesn't always work. I'm also unsure of how to get them on the phone if i've already been texting them for a while (basically, girls I was talking to before i decided to start calling them instead of texting them). |
