I've been noticing that a lot of the opener threads here promise a "high % response rate." Some guys try it out, and the post 'omg it worked!' when they hear back from the girls. Ok, that's cool. I don't know about you guys, but I've tried a lot of/probably all of the openers here, and yes, I do get a high response rate. 9 times out of 10, those responses are also boring and noncommittal as shit. More often than not I find myself carrying the weight of a conversation I'm not even interested in because the girl clearly isn't interested/is giving aggravatingly short responses. Almost like she's just going along with it b/c she's bored. Eventually she doesn't respond, which is really a kind of mercy, because it feels like I've been beating the fuck out of a dead horse for the last 5 or 6 messages. Only once or twice has using these canned openers actually resulted in a date, and that was only because the girl, defying the rules of online dating sites, actually reciprocated in the conversation. I doubt the majority of the responses you guys are getting are super-committing to the conversation or make it easy to carry on talking with them. Personally, I'm more interested in openers/conversation frames that result in dates, not just responses. Maybe I'm the only one having this problem, I dunno. Anyone else having this issue? |

I've never done any online dating, so I can't say I'm an expert, but from what you describe I think that your problem is not actually the openers, but what you follow up with. The canned openers generate responses, but what you continue with, i.e. your conversation, does not. So it does indeed sound like the girls you refer to are bored. So what do you exactly mean when you say that you have to 'carry the weight of the conversation'? Also, don't you think your expectations about openers are a little high? They're just the first thing you say, not some magic pill to make a girl like you. |
