Post subject:  First date: weekend or weeknight?

Okay so I emailed a girl and on her first response she asks me what my schedule is like (suggesting we meet), and I tell her I’m free pretty much all next week. And then she says “I can meet after work on week nights but I can’t stay out late. On weekends I can go out”

Normally, I’d take the girl out on a Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday for obvious reasons… but it seems like with that response she’s hoping for a weekend date? Currently – all my friends where I live are lame/in a relationship/don’t go out much (hence the online dating) so if I did go for weekend date it would probably be me and her which I’m totally cool with – but fear it may be a bit of a DLV to commit a whole Saturday night to I girl I’ve never met.

she's basically telling you she's interested and would RATHER go out on a weekend. This is waaay better for you, as you can stay out longer if it goes well, get drunk and who knows. Committing a Saturday night to a date isn't a DLV. Telling her your free ALL WEEK is a DLV. i think your misunderstanding the concept. Tell her you have made plans through the week and Saturday night is cool.

Thanks for the response, to my defense I did say I was free all week starting Tuesday (implying that I was busy the rest of this week, and this weekend) - didn't seem to DLVish. Anyway I agree with your interpretation and will probably move forward with a Saturday night plan... last online date went real well - got head outside Macy's 1hr30min into it.

Yeah, don't worry about weekdays or weekends too much, especially for online dating. If she agrees to meet you, you already have a foot in the door, so it doesn't matter much if you go in on Saturday or Tuesday, just put in a time constraint that you can conveniently drop or forget about if the date goes well.
