Post subject:  ONLINE PROFILE ADVISE - RIP ME APART!

Hey everyone ... I need some help on my online dating profile. Please rip me apart and don't hold back ... Am I being too cocky? Not funny enough? Too unorginal? I welcome any and all constructive advice !!!

ABOUT ME:
Hey, my name is Ryan. Im 23 years old and I graduated last May with a degree in Finance. I now work full time in the Investment Bank of a large financial firm..

Some unique stuff about me... I rode my bicycle 4,000 miles across the United States from San Fransisco, CA to Washington, DC for individuals with disabilities. I can make a three leaf clover with my tongue. I am related to Al Pacino. I have had two dogs, Buddy and Skippy (miniature collies). I was on a junior national ice hockey team and competed in over 12 countries. I can walk on my hands. I hate the sound of a balloon when you rub it (and the same goes for Styrofoam lol). A lion peed on me at the zoo. Sometimes I compete in rap battles as well, I go by the name TyKo RC.

On a more general note.. my hobbies include running, lifting weights, philosophy, going out with friends (bars, parties, etc), snowboarding, being outside, concerts, learning, dogs, mexican food, food in general, and just enjoying life. I read a good amount of books about leadership and philosophy as well.

In regards to what I am looking for in a woman... I am looking for a girl that is adventurous, funny, and also motivated to do well in life. I also look for a girl that can stand on her own, and is confident in social situations. Having a big heart is important to me as well. I don't run away from emotions and feelings, and I would like the girl im with to do the same and be able to articulate what is on her mind. It also helps if you are a little dorky like me haha. And I don't say all of this because im specifically looking for a relationship, just traits im attracted to ha.

... and on a side note, i have been sending some of these canned openers (i.e. if i have already married and divorced you, hey i would take that pic down of yourself, etc.) and have gotten mixed replies/no responses. I feel as if the forward and "crazy" PUA openers aren't congruent to the profile I am portraying of myself. Thoughts?

The whole first paragraph, you're qualifying yourself. I stopped reading halfway through the third sentence. Lose it.

Also, don't mention your job or even your degree. Remember, you don't want to give the "I'm a provider" impression. I suggest going through the double your dating literature on attractive personality types.

hey thanks for the advice man ..

I gotta get outta this mindset that I need to qualify myself to women. You're right.

And your suggestions on what to read up on, are those articles or ebooks? links?

keep ripping me apart people! ha..

again, thanks.

Yeah, gonna double post just because this is relevant but unrelated to my last reply.

Your profile should be showcasing you as an individual with an attractive lifestyle and personality. It's like Internet Lingerie, in that it should be presenting hints and glimpses into your life, but every part needs to serve a purpose. Ask yourself, "Does what I just wrote make them want to know more?"

Skip details, paint in broad strokes and let their imagination fill in the details. Tease, taunt, and don't give a straight answer. This is 100% cat string theory. Every detail you give up without making them earn it, no matter how interesting, becomes boring.

I've found that most-of-the-time, the less details provided, the better off you are.

As previously mentioned, it can serve a little as cat string theory. For instance, I just hopped on some internet dating sites and I posted that I enjoyed reading a lot as my main hobby. I was able to find that a girl I was messaging loved to read as well. This led to a discussion about what I was reading (fractionating was possible as well at this point), etc. instead of her seeing exactly what I read and judging me.

Just my 2 cents...good luck man!
